Makes you think
14 years 5 days ago
Last week in the first test between England and Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka scored 400 in their first innings. England replied with 496. It rained and eventually play started again on the 5th afternoon. England with a 96 run first innings lead were 999/1 to win. The draw was 1/1000. England won by bowling Sri Lanka out for a mere 82.
Now in the second Test England have scored well over 400 asll out in their first innings and Sri Lanka are 187/0. My point is that the pitches in both matches were and are batsman over friendly.
Makes you think how and why were the Sri Lankans bowled out for 82 in 24 overs. at a price of 999/1

Exactly even just a pound on would have been great. Its like when SA chased down the 434 a few years ago. I was tempted to have a bet at 100/1 but did not.(if I recall correctly)

Against the Aussies at the Bull Ring where Gibbs ''I don't smoke pot'' smashed that brilliant Hundred....

and that one Aussie bowler conceded over 100 runs in his 10 overs, never to be seen again. Ponting also scored a ton that day.
