Now this is where I think the rules of the competition need some tinkering; someone (sorry zesto - not picking on you - you just serve as the perfect example this month) manages to select a huge outsider to win and takes a clear lead - now it becomes possible for this tipster to not make another selection for the rest of the month and still wins - and be declared the winner having made 1 winning selection out of 3. I suggest that the rule of having to enter the competition before a specific date should be changed to state that a certain number of selections (10?) MUST be made during the month in order to qualify for the prizes.

Firstly,well done Zesto! I trust you enjoyed the moment and looking forward to build on that result.

Secondly,I fully agree with Frodo with regards to the possible change from "entering the competition before a specific date of the competition..to min number of selections per month".

On average we looking at 34-40 race events per month weather permitting. So it's definetly possible for someone to make a min selectionof at least 15-20 bets.

I'm sure Unlucky Dube will kindly consider this suggestion and revert to us all shortly.

Hi UD don't forget about Eastexpo's stars, I see they haven't been put on.

I would have to disagree with Frodo and Donkey, this competition is about strategy now and if you catch a big outsider early on you can sit and have a look for a while. You can also by doing this and not making selections be caught with your hand in the cookie jar if a few people at the end of the month catch a few outsiders and knock you off the top spot. There is still a long way to go this month and a lot can change.

I agree with Shrek. It's all about strategy, with a bit of luck thrown in. In previous monthly competitions I have watched zesto put his long shot selections down often, without any of them coming in. No one complained then. His strategy is that he knows sooner or later one will come in, yesterday was his day and so his patience has been rewarded. His score now as it stands would not have won him last months competition, antsinner had over 600 points. Even if I had to force him to make 20 more selections, it would still be easy for him to defend his lead if he wanted to. For example a defensive strategy would be to do the following on all his 20 bets, he bets only one point for a place on an odds on favourite with a top jock riding. It would be extremely unlikely that he would lose all 20 points, he may even make more points with that startegy! Knowing zesto, I expect him to continue with his outsider strategy, because if he finds another one, he will draw even further ahead. I also expect some of our real gamblers to chase him down. That's what makes this game so fun and interesting imo.

Yo Frodo, Unlucky Dube has a point as it comes down to STRATEGY. We all have different strategies and like Unlucky Dube said it's a competition. Last month I just loved to see on a weekly basis how the clansmen got eliminated from the competition.The 1st,2nd and 3rd prizes we all should consider as a bonus at the end of month because during the each month of play your personal strategy should make you more than enough money.

My focus is solely that my bank balance keeps growing. That must be the most important aspect for everbody i should think.

What i do know is all strategies requires focus,patience and also rules which each person should apply when selecting a horse. It took me a long time and lots of hard work but I found it all coming together recently and now i'm smiling all the way to the bank. I really hope my fellow clansmen can reach that same point because i'm trully enjoying africanbettingclan and everbody in it making it so popular.

Awesome post Donkey. It's posts like that, that makes me keep on trying to beat the gg's. I have been experimenting with a "system" lately. It picked six straight winners in a row!X(X(X(X(X(X( Then when I thought I had found the Holy Grail of horse racing, a fool proof system, it subsequently picked 6 losing selections:X:X:X:X:X:X I'm still slightly up luckily, but how's that for varience in gambling.
