RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Limited

Nearly R40 million was bet into Phumelela TAB’s global tote pools on the Dubai World Cup race meeting at Meydan Racecourse last Saturday.

Dozens of tote hubs in some 15 countries bet into the pools with Dubai bets in the participating countries being instantly transmitted to the Phumelela TAB computerised tote betting system in Johannesburg. More than 400 tote outlets in South Africa also bet on the meeting.

The Win and Exacta were the most popular bets with R8.5 million bet into Exacta pools on the eight-race card and R7.8 million into Win pools. The Win and Exacta pools on the topliner, the $10-million Dubai World Cup, were R2.6 million and R2.5 million respectively.

Phumelela is honoured to be the official tote hub for the Dubai International Racing Carnival and the Dubai World Cup, an event that has quickly grown into the Olympics of horseracing since its inception in 1996.

“Hosting the global tote pools on behalf Emirates Racing is a substantial undertaking and a responsibility we are immensely proud of,” said John Stuart, Phumelela’s Director International Operations.

What overriding commissions &/or fees are paid in respect of co-mingled pools.......come clean ....the only feasible reason for the strange dividends, since co-mingling, is smaller nett pools, percentage wise!

Apparently R1 and R1 today in Turkey null and void ... maybe an investigation into this?
