I hope they do one of these on Prince Florimund. People forget that before he was exported to the USA he used to give weight and a thumping to Wolf Power. Now immortalised as the damsire of Pocket Power and River Jetez, the Prince could have swept all before him in the races that Wolf Power ended up winning, had he stayed in SA.

What about the name Grundy. Nobody would've guessed greatness with that name.

Yes, Matthew. Prince Florimund is one of the 40 or so horses to be featured, though his story won't be among those to be screened during this pre-National Sales build-up. I think we have found some US race footage but he's one horse who has presented difficulties, in terms of photographs and interviews. He started out his career with "Cooke" Amos and was ridden by Stanley, both of them now deceased, and then he went to David Payne (who forgot to nominate him for the Durban July, thinking Amos had done it!!). David is now in Australia, and difficult to interview without incurring huge extra expense, but we have a good interview with Raymond Rhodes, who rode him in all his races whilst he was with David. We also have an interview or two with Ricky Maingard, who mainatained that there were excuses for Wolf Power on all the occasions on which they met.

The principal excuse being that Prince Florimund was a better horse than Wolf Power.....Lol. At least, when they were 3yos.

Thanks for the response, Neighmaster.
