Should a trainer be sponsored by a bookmaker ?

Is this ethically ok ? Surely we have to take everything a trainer like Sean Tarry says with a pinch of salt ?
First timer backed like no tomorrow, but on tv he didnt sound keen.
What happens when he tips a horse strong ? Do the racing authorities review the books of his sponsor ?

Bookies being associated with horsemen on any level is a recipe for disaster if racing wants to be taken seriously by the public.

I am more concerned when bookies sponsor jockeys.

Surely the authorities should look to protect the integrity of racing at all costs ?
Even the appearance of wrongdoing can do major damage to the public's perception of the industy.

Good point Pirates. Not sure where the line is drawn, but what I do know is the more above board racing is, the better for the punter.

How does a sponsorship of a trainer or jockey work? I assume they receive cash for some service they supply, rather than for information?
Although I can't imagine the sponsored trainer or jockey telling his sponsor "Sorry mate, but I just can't tell you that!" LOL

Hollywood provides its sponsored trainers with grooms' kit and horse blankets. It is an advertising medium, there is nothing remotely sinister or underhand going on.
