Where the Property Developers ?

Huge plot of land available..in the " Red Zone" ie near a Gautrain station...easy and quick access by car from East Rand, West Rand and Pretoria and in Northern Suburbs. I have assertained owners willing to give 99 year lease.

Excellent spot for boutique style racecourse..day and night racing ..shops, restuarants etc..would suggest Tapeta track same as Dubai..would be huge for racing!

Sounds wonderful. (So does the idea of a Ferrari in my garage, but one can always dream.)

Heehee Magic if I were in the property business I wlda already got go ahead from gambling board and signed up Ocean Basket, Steers, Spur, etc and caterers for an elevation style room named after MdK, a nice upmarket club for the youngsters and maybe an old fashioned bar for old toppies like me with a small band singing Guns n Roses, U2, Pink Floyd etc music

Put a lovely well supervised area inside the track for the kids to play in putt putt etc and then start printing the money!

Yeah my mate..unfortunately there are those "who make things happen", those who "watch whats happenning" and those who sit back and "wonder what happened"

We know where our leaders fit in so its just a case of finding the right guys who fit into the first category who know something about property development.

Would it not be better to build a world class facility in the Western Cape, thereby attracting international competitors? (As long as the prize money is attractive)

If you were trying to get investors to invest in any area of the racing industry right now, what incentive would you use as bait?

But a new racecourse wouldn't just be a racecourse, would it? It could be part of some kind of sports and recreation development, perhaps.

......Kind of like KFC is no longer only KFC, its now Taco Bell and KFC or Nando's and KFC or whatever. This is exactly the type of symbiotic relationship racing should be looking for.

I once upon a time thought that racing and casinos make perfect bed mates, but now you have 2 gambling forms vying for the same, very stretched rand. Not the answer I don't believe (Scottsville and Golden Horse a prime example).....Having said that perhaps Scottsville would no longer exist if it wasn't for the casino? not sure though.

A "boutique" racecourse could work....even one as far out as say.....ALBERTON......

I'm not going to go down that road as it is flogged to bits, but there certainly is merit in the thinking. Pity nobody will listen?
