Presenters at Tellytrack have been complaining about their internet connection and I am also finding that the more I read about faster and improved internet ,the slower my m-web gets (I have the fastest uncapped blah blah blah !) Is it just teething troubles or what?....any fundies here?

There are apparently upgrade problems being experienced by Mweb. They are also allegedly being obliged to share bandwidth with competing organisations whilst these matters are addressed.

However - with regard to the 'uncapped facility' an industry insider cautioned me that they are all simply adding more and more users - all of whom are now attempting to send and receive data through a facility which is NOT unlimited in its abilty to handle demand - hence it may become even slower before enhanced capacity kicks in sometime in the future.

In the meantime you have the usual Souith African 'Service' Provider syndrome : You have contracted for a service which you are not actually getting. And which no one intends to compensate you for.

When i played a lot of poker a few years back,my provider decided to prioritise the service at peak times, make it nearly impossible to connect to poker sites of an evening..

Rob

I also live in the Rivonia area, use Mweb as a service provider and connect using Vodacom 3G ( which usually defaults to Edge). The only way I can describe this combination is bloody awful. When the connection is not dropping the Mweb service is down due to technical upgrades or is simply "unavailable at this time", while I have recently had an Mweb software which reflected a newish looking screen only to revert back to the old look again a day later.

I had Vodacom at my home to demonstrate alternative solutions such as a large TV like ariel but in the end they admitted the service was shit, signal strength virtually non-existant and offered to cancel the remainder of the contract without penalty !!!!!

I think the answer for now is GRIM AND BEAR IT. If a viable solution was available I would ditch Mweb and Vodacom like a shot. For me they are coupled on the tote.

Thanks for the feedback guys.Believe it or not its better to know its a general issue, rather than just mine.Sort of like when the electricity goes off....quick check to see if its the whole street....if its general then at least you know patience is the cure.
Gajima,I also have the safety net of 3G HSPD whatever, and its not all that much faster than dial up.I keep it for emergencies(If my ADSL line goes down it is an average of about a week wait for Telkom service) but as Garrick says, not really worth the cost!

Must say no time for Telkom, but happy with Vodacom, no problem with speed etc, but we do pay a lot more here for the coms services than overseas.
