Why not? The stakes there are on a different planet to ours and there's nothing here for him for many months anyway.

From Facebook message yesterday to all fans:

Just a quick note to let you know that JJ The Jet Plane has travelled down to Cape Town and has started his 20 days in the "FREE" Zone for African Horse Sickness.

We are still waiting for final confirmation on certain matters BUT if all goes well JJ will enter the Kennilworth Quarantine for a further 30 days. He will then fly to the UK for another 30 days in the UK quarantine and then fly to Honk Kong mid November to participate in the Sha Tin Cathay Pacific Sprint race on 16 December 2010.

JJ is doing well in Cape Town and has been accompanied by his very own stable hand (and best friend), Everisto, who will be side by side with JJ in his travels. Lucky Houdalakis will continue to train JJ during his overseas campaign.

Will keep you posted!

Yours in Racing!

Possible HK target for J J The Jet Plane

South Africa: Champion sprinter J J The Jet Plane could be on his travels again with trainer Lucky Houdalakis considering a tilt at the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Sprint on December 12.

Houdalakis said: "There is nothing concrete yet but we are looking at the race. He is in Cape Town at the moment and he goes into the quarantine station at Kenilworth racecourse on Sunday."

If he gets the Hong Kong go-ahead, the six-year-old would have to spend 30 days in quarantine and a further 30 in Britain before being sent to Hong Kong.

Houdalakis added: "If he didn't go, it's more than likely he would run in the Cape Flying Championship [in Cape Town in January].

"It all depends on how quickly I can get him to Hong Kong. Dubai would then be an option but we have got until March for that."

J J The Jet Plane raced in Dubai last year, winning the Al Quoz Sprint before being sent to Britain where he was third in the July Cup and fourth in the Golden Jubilee.

However, the gelding's owners decided to split with Mike de Kock part way through the campaign and he ran his last four racesfor Richard Hannon.

Since returning to South Africa and his original trainer, he has won two Grade 1s in impressive style and been voted both champion sprinter and champion older horse.

Houdalakis seems to have an open mind about sending him back to Britain, saying: "We will see what happens in the meantime and then take it from there."
