TAB MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Sandown payouts revised
DATE: Friday 23 July
RELEASED BY: Phumelela Gaming and Leisure Limited

The UK Tote has declared new Win and Place payouts for Race 4 at Sandown in the UK yesterday (Thursday 22 July).
TAB Win and Place bets on the race were commingled with the UK Tote, which declared the official dividends in the normal way. But the UK Tote subsequently discovered these payouts were incorrect and on Thursday night changed the dividends originally declared.
The new payouts are:
11 Flying Destination WIN R5.70 (originally R1.70)
11 Flying Destination PLACE R1.70 (originally R1)
6 Rumble of Thunder PLACE R8.60 (originally R9.50)
5 Resurge PLACE R4.10 (originally R1.10)
TAB has adjusted phone and online accounts to reflect the revised payouts and from the start of business today has paid out the new dividends in TABs.
TAB customers who cashed winning Win and Place tickets yesterday are asked to submit a claim form for whatever loss they have suffered. Such customers must simply tell the manager of the TAB in which they cashed the bets that they wish to submit a claim.
TAB apologises for any inconvenience.

Computers do not make" one off "mistakes. This is human error(lets hope not deliberate) and of course,as so loudly pointed out...NOT TAB's FAULT...................................... but another cock up as a result of co-mingling......does TAB,and all it's associations and partnerships, not need a forensic audit to ensure all is well?(honest and transparent)

Shocking the punters only want a fair return for the horses chances no surprizes accepted if not buy a lotto, fixed odds win and place is the only way to go for the serious punter

Its the baboob (I wanted to say "baboon", but that will do) show run by apes.....In fact I'm being mean to the Apes!!!!

How much more must go wrong? But as I have said a million times. They make too much money off the international fare to let it go now.

Just be honest, fair and transparent. Don't hide behind your cock ups!! You look silly as it is!

Wish I was a millionaire. Not only would I own my own chicken coup and drive a ford, but I would try to figure out a way to usurp the current tote from their pedastil!

Hi,:

> The UK Tote has declared new Win and Place payouts
> for Race 4 at Sandown in the UK yesterday (Thursday 22 July).

It wasn't just Race 4. Take a look at the result for Race 6 which is from
www.bookies.co.za under Results - 22 July - Sandown. The winner is a
33/1 shot but was declared tote favourite. Incorrect winning jackpot numbers
were then disseminated with a dividend of R1882.80.

1st 9 LADY FLORENCE 33/1
2nd 11 ANNES ROCKET
3rd 2 BUXTON
4th 1 LASTKINGOFSCOTLAND

Fav 9 LADY FLORENCE
Scr 12 FEET OF FURY

Jackpot = R 1882.8

From www.tabonline.co.za the winning jackpot is now shown as

EXOTIC PAYOUTS
POOL RESULT PAYOUT
JP 5x11x4,8x9 3227.30

No WIN dividend for No 9 yet declared!

Hard to believe it is simply a co-mingling error!

Given the farefare below I would have thought this debacle deserved more than the proferred "TAB apologises for any inconvenience."

PHM - Phumelela - Voluntary Announcement
Phumelela Gaming & Leisure Limited
( Incorporated in the Republic of South Africa )
( Registration number 1997/016610/06 )
Share code : PHM ISIN: ZAE000039269
VOLUNTARY ANNOUNCEMENT
Shareholders are advised that following the successful launch of fractional tote
betting in England last month, the UK Tote and Phumelela Gold Enterprises (PGE)
have entered into a ground-breaking agreement that will create new opportunities
for commingling tote bets in the UK and South Africa into single pools.
The UK Tote's introduction of fractional betting paves the way for UK punters in
Tote Direct shops to bet into TAB pools on South African races.
South African punters already bet into UK Tote pools, but the new deal enables
the UK Tote to offer commingling on more bet types including the Trifecta.
Fractional betting is offered on the Trifecta in South Africa and the roll-out
of fractional betting in the UK now enables Trifecta pools to be commingled.
The agreement marks another exciting development in both PGE and the UK Tote's
rapidly expanding overseas business and will provide more opportunities for tote
punters in the UK and South Africa to bet into commingled, and therefore bigger,
tote pools.
UK betting shop customers will have the opportunity to take a range of bet types
into TAB pools in South African, as well as multi-leg exotic bets that are
popular in the UK. This new opportunity, part of the UK Tote International
Service to bookmakers, is expected to commence later this year.
As always with commingled pools, the rules and takeouts of the host tote will
apply. TAB customers should note that the takeout from UK Tote Trifecta and
Swinger pools is 26% and 30% respectively, but takeouts from Win and Place pools
are much lower at 13.5% and 18% respectively.
One of the success stories of the UK Tote's commercial partnership with PGE has
been the launch of the Swinger, a popular bet in South Africa, on UK racing in
June 2008.
David Craven, Managing Director of Totepool, said "Phumelela has been a long-
term and valued partner of the UK Tote. We are obviously delighted that we have
secured the South Africans' involvement and investment in UK racing and we
believe this new deal will have significant benefits for both parties.
"With our technology developing at such a rapid pace, we are able to extend our
association with South Africa further than before, commingling on a wider a
range of bets and providing a platform to re-launch the totetrifecta. The fact
that UK betting shop customers will also be able to access South African pools
makes this a win-win deal for punters and bookmakers alike, as well as
increasing profits for UK racing."
Phumelela Gold's Group CEO, Rian du Plessis, said: "We are very pleased with our
renewed and expanded agreement with the UK Tote. Going forward our customers
will benefit from being able to bet into additional commingled exotics and,
importantly, our South African pools will also benefit from the reciprocal
betting of the Tote's customers. It is a win-win for both of us!"

I have noticed we still have posts on tote discrepancies and thought I would just recap on a bit history on what discussions were held between ABC and the TOTE.

It was our intention to take tote bets via ABC and would earn commission and we would give back to the punters via a competition.
Note! that to this day no payment was ever received but the estimated credit was given back to the punters from ABC.
I would add before someone is sitting with a red face if the cheque is still in the post please give to a racing charity with compliments of ABC.

We had a couple of concerns on the table one of which was tote anomalies, which to this day we never received a comprehensive reply although a few statements were issued by Phumelela.

I was given a tour of the TOTE facilities in Joburg to prove everything was in order but if you read my feedback it shows that cancelled bets and comingling take place after the off time of the race.

I suggested the following

Do not allow any cancellation of bets 5.00 mins before the off, lets be fair the bets that are being cancelled are substantial amounts and who actually puts high stakes on the "wrong" horse?
In addition close all overseas co mingled bets also 5 mins before the off to enable the tote board to be consistent at the off in relationship to the final payout.

The reply was that punters like to place bets close to off time and the TOTE does not want to upset the customers.

Well let me just explain the "customers" you will upset are the late bet cancellations from specific TOTE outlets that are causing this general confusion and some Australian sitting under a tree smoking kangaroo shit and dreaming up a "lucky number" and placing a R10,000 bet via his bush telephone.

Just sit back and find out the "root cause" of your problem and find out where your real customer base is.

I have noticed that Margaret is now out the feedback link and sure the access to ABC with racing operators have server limitations.

It is well publicized that "NO TOTE NO RACING" from the RA and explanations where the stake money comes from, its time that the Racing operators and authorities recognize the concerns that are on the table for the good of local racing.

I would also mention David Safi from Formgrids into this equation as he delivers a superb free product to the racing industry which can only contribute to TOTE turnovers.

I have no idea if the TOTE is growing or losing market share to fixed odds alternatives and its still believes its untouchable and has no opposition and has the same mindset as a Munitoria (lights and water).

Munitoria definition : poor service, ignore customers, pay or be switched off, no alternatives take it or leave it.
Phumelela : You are not in the same position be careful before the punters put your lights out.

ps I honestly believe that bringing a person with the background and enthusiasm of Vee Moodley will make a difference and ensure the survival and growth of local racing and maybe the concerns will be heard and closed in a professional manner to give the punters confidence when placing a TOTE bet.

good punting!

Nice posting Dave, but unfortunately ''the lights on but no ones home'' with that lot... They don't care a toss about the punter or forum posters opinions... Three Cheers for the BOOKIES.....
