When watching soccer from yesteryear, one realises how protected today's supposed stars are treated by referees...they would not have lasted through a season with some of the tackles Maradona and many others had to contend with in years past...

So true. That is what happened to Maradona in the 1982 World Cup. Players came hard on to him. In the 1986 World Cup, Maradona made sure he builds himself physically and he was able to face all those strong tackles.
