Lying is intentional. Deception is less cut and dried, what you take to be deceptive isn't necessarily intended that way.

I don't think trainers, or anyone else for that matter, will lie to get a price to go out.

I do think they will fail mention a longish odds horse to preserve the price. Quite in their rights too.

even a broken watch is right at least twice a day....and you gotta be in it to win it....the dogs have been barking Bold Silvano ever since he arrived at MDK....
no suprise he won he went to MDK just for that reason....no rocket science required as the horse has copious amount of talent and a 2.1L showing to Noordhoek flyer in the Cape put him into the play. Was not a racing certainty but had a chance as this field was not the strongest Gr2 around. As to MDK being "iffy" that's his style, talked many right out of Grey's Inn the year he bagged the July.

Muhtiman,You missing the point of my post which was,how often,in racing, you get two completely different opinions,of exactly the same evidence. You only have to read the threads on various forums to see a number of examples.
I have also read many of your posts and you stand accused by many as an "after the event expert" I hope you proved them wrong and made a fortune on Bold Silvano........no rocket science required lol.

Rob, sorry I missed your point, but you too are missing mine, Bold Silvano was no real racing certainty, but was in the "Betting World" show as Niel Andrews EW bet 200W and 800PL and other media personalities Chain and Molly preaching it too....I have not been in much public circulation recently but have heard plenty about the horse.I never saw MDK's interveiw on this subject but have come to know of his "style" of interview and in his defence I do not think that he is purposely trying to mislead the betting public but is being cautious. I thought that the 1900 was open and glad that MDK's other was scratched as it helped to inlucude Bold Silvano in P6. For me not an on the nose betting race, but did have a small tickle on another roughie. Sadly I missed the the race and have been up since 5 this morning to catch a replay, and the loop kept being cut to put in Shan Ip. Would really like to see the race to see if my roughie is worth a stab next time out.

There is an absolute difference about someone voicing there concerns or even doubts BEFORE the event compared to being misleading if the result proves them wrong. Their opinion at the time is still valid.

If the result could be known before the time, then their thoughts would not be called an "opinion", which after all is just their best guess.

I thought MdK told what he saw and gave an opinion on the facts as he sees it. To second guess everyone will force them to clam up.

As it happens I had a July each way on Bold Silvano and though I was done in after the interview. Happy that the horse will get a run now. Great looking horse on tv, by the right sire and with the right yard to have every chance.
