HAROLD STERLEY
IN-FORM Mike Bass should have an exciting day at Kenilworth on Saturday with Pocket Power and River Jetez lining up in feature races, and he looks to have another ace up his sleeve on Friday at Fairview.

He sends out promising four-year-old filly Temair, who participates in the Lady’s Bracelet (Listed) over 1600m, and looks the part.

Temair has been runner-up in five of her last seven outings and it has been 11 months since she last tasted victory. But Temair has faced some useful opposition in the past year.

Over 1400m, she finished second to Mother Russia twice in a row and followed up with another good second to Love Is In The Air over 1600m.

More recently, she was a good second to Sparkling Gem - and if that does not tempt one’s taste buds nothing will.

She takes on much weaker opposition and from a good draw, should win with ease.

Bass said: "She left early Wednesday morning and if she has a good journey, she will be in with a big shout. She is looking well and her work has been good.’’

Another Cape visitor, Ladonna, can pick up the pieces should Temair not perform to her true ability.

She has been runner-up in her last three starts back home and is clearly worthy of her fourth career win. Of the locals, Tuvana Silva looks best and is sure to earn a decent enough prize.

Local hopeful Hear The Drums will be having his preparatory run for the Cape Flying Championship at the fixture. He shoulders 64kg, which is the type of weight he has become accustomed to carrying, and looks to have his opposition stone cold at the weights.

So the Jackpot at Fairview looks relatively easy with two bankers - Temair and Hear The Drums.

re. Temair.

They will allways price up well bred horses from big yards with prominent owners at low prices.

You see it all the time in Cape Town and probably other centers to, horses with the exact same form, one from Kannemeyer yard one from Ennion, the Kannemeyer horse will be 8/10 and the other 2/1.

No better way to get the mug money than to price up a "big yard" runners short , claim the price and watch the lemmings fall in.

Oscar holding thumbs for Slumdog, you need a bit of cheering up

SLUMDOG OSCAR led and faded late when 1.25 lengths behind CROWN COLONY in the race won by Summer School (3.25 behind winner)and has shown nice form in PE.1400 should suit and has Fransie up.Sir Halley and him will be fighting from the jump for first to the line.

Er, when did I send Yankee Stadium to PE? I really must cut down on the double brandy and Cokes. I'll be forgetting my own name next. Lol. (I think Greg meant Yankee Emblem)

I'm thinking (i could be wrong Dave et Al can set me straight) but the Slumdog might just be at peak after two races in PE. I'll be putting in PA (left him out last time)
