I was fortunate enough to be at Sandown on Saturday. The 27 pound grandstand entrance fee or 6 pound train fare did not deter many thousands of punters at a very crowded venue. I managed to back Ialysos a horse who had won 8 from 8 in Greece, now known as the Greek Freak in the 1st at one of the 100 on-course bookies. A twenty minute wait for a lager followed by a similar wait in the parade ring to see the stars. He is a very laid back horse which surprised and disappointed me, coupled with his very short price, decided me to back Conduit- a far flashier and slower type. I found a pub with shorter queues that showed our July, the Lions match as well as all the other racing.

A truely memorable day - wot I can remember of it

Sea The Stars conqueror scores on US return

USA: DRIVING SNOW, the winner of the only race Sea The Stars has lost, returned from anine month absence to win the $200,000 Oliver Stakes at Indiana Downs on Tuesday night.

The Verglas colt, who started at 3.7-1, is now trained in the US by Darrin Miller who confirmed that Driving Snow will run next in the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park on
August 8.

Miguel Mena settled Driving Snow in midfield behind a strong pace and entered the fray turning into the home straight. Driving Snow soon forged ahead before cosily holding off the late challenge of Quite A Handful.

Miller said: "I was very pleased with that. When a horse has been off for as long as he had, you are never quite sure what will happen but he ran a fantastic race. The pace helped him, he put himself into the race and he won easily enough. This was a starting point. I think he will improve."

When trained by Kevin Prendergast in Ireland last year, Driving Snow won a valuable maiden race at the Curragh, beating Black Bear Island and Freemantle, with debutante Sea The Stars in fourth.

This season SeaThe Stars has won the 2,000 Guineas, Derby and Coral-Eclipse, while Black Bear Island and Freemantle finished first and second in the Dante Stakes at York.

Sea The Stars to run three more times in 2009

THE world will have the pleasure of watching Christopher Tsui's dual Classic-winner Sea The Stars three more times this season, according to trainer John Oxx.

Already the winner of the Stanjames.com 2,000 Guineas, Investec Derby and Coral-Eclipse, Oxx would like to see him have six races this term.

However, whether the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes, at Ascot in 12 days time, is one of them, remains to be seen.

"I'll talk to the owner in the next couple of days and then we'll decide where we go next, but he's fine, he's fresh and well," said Oxx on Sunday.

"We have to decide whether to give him another quick race after running a very fast time in the Eclipse - whether you'd run him again three weeks later bearing in mind you have the plan to run him three more times, that is what we have to consider."

Oxx also told At The Races: "At a risk of sounding like Aidan O'Brien, all the options are open to him, because he haswon Group 1s over a mile, ten furlongs, and mile and a half."

Oxx has already indicated the Tattersalls Millions Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown on September 5 is a "definite target", while York's Juddmonte International on August 18 is a likely next race if Sea The Stars misses Ascot.

Sheikh Mohammed told Channel 4 Racing last week that he was interested in buying Sea The Stars, saying: "I would love to stand Sea The Stars at Dalham Hall, but the owner will decide."
