PRESS RELEASE 22 MAY 2009
Now that the audit process has been concluded by Gold Circle ’s internal audit department, the first leader board in the 2009 edition of the Charity Turf Challenge has been compiled.
Michael Gramanie is the early leader with 35 points, 1 clear of second-placed Sharmlin Govender and Western Province Owners and Trainers Association Chairman, Rodney Dunn , sharing third place on 30 points with other entries from the leader.
So far, eight horses have scored points in this year’s Charity Turf Challenge, but with the Betting World 1900 to be run tonight (Friday 22 May) and the legendary Pocket Power making his KZN Champion’s Season debut on Sunday, the leader board could be very different come Monday morning when it will again be updated.
Entries from last year’s winning exacta, “JMFJ” and “African Lion”, have yet to make their move, but it’s too soon to write them off! The action is now coming thick and fast and next weekend sees the running of the first of the all-important “bonus” races, the Gr.1 Golden Horse Sprint.
This weekend’s eligible runners are:
Friday 22 May – Greyville Racecourse:
Air Combat
Bush Pirate
Pirate ' s Gold
Thandolwami
Thundering Jet
Vision Of Grandeur
Sunday 24 May – Clairwood Racecourse:
Bill Of Rights
Drayton
Our Giant
Pocket Power
