I’m surprised you say that Dave.
The two Maidens are complicated by first timers, and the rest are all competitive handicaps
Looks very trappy to me.

Usual competitive mid-week fare ....thoughts -
R1: No world-beaters here; Iron Sky the obvious one, but needs to give 5.5 kgs to Waitingforgreenlight who is entitled to improve on her debut; neither first-timer seem fancied, but watch the betting closer to race time - any or both of them could be good enough to feature
R2: Competitive; Red Maple is weighted to beat Ipso Facto, but in a small field much will depend on the pace
R3: Chrome Tourmaline was beaten by the moderate Heart Light last time - so seems beatable here; Duenna does not have to be a superstar to make a winning debut, while Glitterfox must have a chance as well; I'm taking a chance on Zoom Lady though - almost a year off the track, but finished 4 lengths off Glittering Girl, who was good enough to be beaten less than a length by Sweet Pepper in the Alan Roberson last year
R4: Very competitive handicap; I'm siding with Banha Bridge and Mambo Come Tesio; but only the off-form Opera Glass seems held - even Captain Chorus who has blinkers fitted again after failing to shape without them last time, is not without a chance imo
R5: Not a lot between Meridius, Indlamu and Supreme Quest on their last meeting; SQ has the weight advantage, but I think Meridius will run her down; Indlamu at best 1400, but could catch them on the break; Sir Michael tries a tongue-tie and could upset at best, while Johnny Dogs tries a little further - seems better shorter imo
R6: Celestial City disappointed last time but had excuses - won't be easy from the draw though; quite a few who can take advantage if he fails again; interested to see if Dungeons can repeat his good maiden win; We've Got Tonight may need the run today, but worth keeping an eye on in future
R7: Field has cut up and Queen of Smoke seems the right one from pole position; National Star and Golden Aspen next best imo
R8: Very difficult; Lunar Ballade good last win and could repeat; all of Radu, Lady Calavera and Queen Bomi can feature from good draws, while Berengaria and Dancing Arabian need some luck to overcome their wide draws
Enjoy

Interested to see how Amor Perdido goes in Race 3. Half sister to the well performed Sprinkles. Ignored in the betting, but so was Sprinkles first time out- ran 2nd at 20/1 and then doddled her next two.
Both National Star and Bey Suyay ran last week, unusual to see quick follow ups.
Afraad, Bob's Your Uncle and Radu look the value ew plays

How long can Highveld racing still survive?
How much is left in the tank?
Perhaps I am just a little bit pessimistic because I am feeling under the weather……..
Will the owners be contempt to run for a pie and a coke in the next couple of years?
