one thing that i dont understand about ratings is time never seems to be a factor. cd won in 1 37.69. in 2021 jet dark won the queens plate in 1.36.56
how can charles dickens be the best thing since horse chestnut ?

One has to be impressed with the exploits of Charles Dickens - he beat the champion juvenile Cousin Casey by more than 4 lengths - imo CD deserves his rating, but Jet Dark is no slouch and I think if they both take their place in the Kings Cup, it would be closer than the betting suggests - Jet Dark (but for the 'slight hiccup' causing him to miss his last run) imo the better value at 5/1 than CD; the other 'dark horse' in the race who I think is being offered at incredible odds of 66/1, is Al Muthana (I see now with Ricky Maingard) - did everyone forget that he beat Jet Dark in the Gold Challenge

Hopefully all of Charles Dickens, Jet Dark, Kommetdieding, Trip of Fortune, Captain’s Ransom, Golden Ducat, Linebacker, Rascallion, Safe Passage etc take part in the Kings Plate. What a race!
In my opinion, Charles Dickens rating of 128 is conservative as in his last two runs he has given his fields 10 L starts and mowed them down with consummate ease, winning un extended. I pencilled in a rating of 135 after his penultimate win. I think that Cousin Casey is underrated at 115- I have him at 120.
Hence, at this point I thus expect CD to beat Jet Dark and Kommetdieding at 1600m.
In international terms our 135 is about 120 Timeform equivalent
The big question for me about CD is whether or not he will get a trip beyond the mile.

Any reason why the Kings Plate betting appears low key ?
The only price I could find was the double
Kings and MET 😉

I did read a comment that it might not run again locally.

Hope this was only tongue in cheek 🙏

How high do you rate this colt, compared to previous generations? Is it a once in a lifetime horse and what would your riding arrangements be? Would love to see him at Ascot or Dubai.
Not sure how the quarantine laws are atm.

He's good Dave... Is he as good as Jet Dark?

We'll find out on Saturday..

Will he run in the MET? Doubt it!
