congrats to the winner
I don’t understand why Malmoos did not go to the front. And, if not, I also don’t understand why Barahin was not Malmoos’ hare. Well done to Gimmethe green light.

A real puzzle for the handicappers, as Malmoos and Summer Pudding ran well below best. Perhaps this race too soon after the Empress Club for SP, and Malmoos has had a very busy season which may be catching up with him. Added to that the pace looked very muddling. Tactics on Malmoos questionable- may have been better going handy.
Using Cirillo as the line horse at 120 would leave Gotthegreenlight at 124 and a small raise for Second Base to 122. Divine Odyssey then also runs to his 110.
The good news for those who have backed GTGL for the July, is if this is how the official handicappers see it, then he remains well weighted for the July, despite winning this race.
The Gerald Rosenberg is more of a puzzle if you try to fit single ratings. Netta confirmed her superiority over Sparkling Water in the Fillies Classic, which was reversed in the Oaks. It would thus seem that SW needs the longer trip, and that Netta is the better filly up to 2000m. Running Brave ran a shocker, so no help here.
Netta was only given 102 in the Classic, despite running just 2L behind War of Athena,(122) as the balance of the field were weak, and at that point Sparkling Water was also unexposed. Now SW is 109, based on her Oaks run, and if that’s used as the line then Netta could go to 121. That would seem excessive to me but the rest were so far behind that they are no help.
I would put Netta at 118 for now, but that’s just a gut feel relative to War of Athena.

Thank you Peter as always for your valued inputs.
I was not on track yesterday but got the impression that we could be on the road to recovery as far as a bit transparency where 4Racing is heading.
It would be easy to attract more owners with our current stakes on offer and to increase the Tote turnover.
As far as racing, I am sure we were all disappointed with the “clash of the titans” however well done to the Joey Soma stable and sure the new July fav.
WOA must also come into the July picture.
Well done to Justin with his flying machine and raid up North.

After the dust has settled - probably a meeting where a few of the races did not pan out as I expected - definitely in the Challenge (as mentioned by PeterD) it was disappointing to see both Summer Pudding and Malmoos ran quite a few lengths below their best - my summary (take it or leave it
Got the Greenlight - obviously did his July chances no harm - not sure he ran to much better than his rating - in fact on a line through Second Base, Malmoos should have beaten him - I still have him at around 116-118
Second Base - not sure that he suffered that much by the interference at the 1600 (that being said, really Muzi is a bloody cowboy) - still improving and probably ran to around 117
Cirillo - showed signs of life - to me has run to his best rating in a while - around 114
Summer Pudding - would be very interesting to hear what Kennedy thinks - would seem that she was not at her best - even given the fact that the 129 rating is too high (I had her at around 123) - so this leaves a question mark on where she goes from here - maybe stud
Malmoos - in hindsight, the hard Gauteng season definitely took it's toll - a bridge too far to take on this type of opposition 2 weeks after being asked to complete the Triple Crown over 2450m - I think he will be given a break - so question marks on whether he will take his place in the KZN season
