Imagine the horse of the year being a 3yr old filly. Says a lot about the state of SA racing. This is also why these awards are becoming more a popularity contest than actual merit awards.

Think it was a nod to MOD...  :(

The horse ran against and beat roughly the same horses in all it's races...same age group and same sex...

It was a nod to MOD.....they are the saviors of SA racing so 99.99% of racing people are in their camp imvho.... I believe that Got The Green light deserved the honour.....

I'd amend that slightly to "in their camp... right now"...the best of intentions can only be seen in eventual actions...

.....politics politics politics....would have been a big surprise to many if GTGL got it .....these awards have never been about the actual equine ability but more so about ultimately rewarding contribution.....

Summer Pudding was without a doubt Horse Of The Year... great filly!

Her Woolavington run proved that after winning the Triple Tiara. Not easy for a filly or any horse to ever repeat her efforts..

A horse of the year that arguably would struggle to beat any of the top older males at WFA?

To me these awards have been forum gold for years...

Pure comedy...

Let`s be honest it`s only the connections that remembers who wins after 30 minutes!

From breeders moaning, to viewers moaning about them being Larry`s ego stroke, they have been pure magic for the forum..

Do i think Summer Pudding is the best in the country? Nope, but how are the awards only given on MR rating?

Was she the most spoken about horse in the country? Nope that was the best horse Hawwaam!

Did think her win at Greyville victory, was one of my favourite wins by any horse last year..

Do i think she was given the award because of the owners?NOPE! Don`t think any the guys on the panel need to impress them TBH

Should there have been a stayers award? YES and tbh Summer Pudding could have won that as well!
