We have had a bit of rain in the early hours this morning after a week of sunshine. The course should be in good shape. There is a moderate headwind predicted for this afternoon. Some nice racing.
Race 1 Tanzanite Queen was beaten by a good first timer in the Klawervlei farm sale, and again looks well above the raced runners, and only another springer could upset.
Race 2 Pannington has solid form and is the one to beat. The main danger is Duke of Diamonds which showed good improvement at his second start and should enjoy the trip. The Madirishsheriff bled back in January, and has not shown a lot since but did look promising his first couple of starts. Night Song and Silver Sky can fill the quartets but look held by the top two selections.
Race 3 If Captain's Ransom stays the trip then she will win this. Zarina is next best. Not much between all the others for the minor money.
Race 4. Sadly for the connections and Elusive Fort, Kommetdieding has been scratched. This race is now wide open with any of the 6 that have won a race in contention. The other scratching Captain's World had the stable jockey up ahead of two winners from that yard, and he is one to watch when he makes his debut.
Race 5 Rattle Mouse ran in high grade races in Durban and is better than her MR. She should see out the trip and if the travelling has not taken the edge off her, she is my first choice.. Eva Eileen sprung a huge surprise last time and if she stays this trip must again be a contender. Sing Out Loud ran below her best form last time and if staying the trip can also challenge. Flame Tree bounced back from a poor run in the first leg to narrowly go down last time and is also on the shortlist.
Race 6. The unbeaten Katak is the obvious first choice but he tries this trip for the first time and is at prohibitive odds.Super Silvano is a full brother to top sprinter Bold Respect, but seems a completely different type and I think he could stay and again challenge the favourite. Cane Lime and Soda at one stage looked to be among the leading 3 year olds and perhaps he can bounce back from his recent below par performances. Over the Odds looks a genuine stayer and should earn a cheque.
Race 7 This race is wide open. Our filly Drama Queen badly needed her first start after the break, and ran a much improved race last time. She was still not at her peak there and I expect further improvement. Her best trip is a mile, but she was not disgraced against stronger in the Paddock Stakes and with the extra 6 months of development as well as somewhat better going than last time I think that she has an ew chance. She gets a good draw for a change, and Morne rides her for the third time so now knows her much better. The other 3yo Sovereign Secret also returns to CT having contested Gr 2 and Gr1 races there. While she was outclassed in those contests, she ran above her rating, and I think that she must be respected here.
There is not much between the 4 year olds and any of them could pop up. Heaven's Embrace has been priced up a weak favourite, and is distance suited and having her 3rd run after the break. Duchess of Bourbon went close last time and should also enjoy the extra. Star Fighter needed her last run and can improve.
Race 8 Our filly Helen's Ideal was sent to the farm during lockdown, and this race comes too soon for her. We expect her to need the run, so caution advised.
World Radar won a very good race in PE last time and if she has travelled well and her temperament does not get the better of her, should win this.Third Runway may find this a bit sharp but she is very classy at best and can't be ignored.Celestial Storm seems best over 1000m, but is well in at the weights. Quite a few others with chances if World Radar goes missing.
race 9 Lite of my Life good debut and with normal improvement is the one to beat. Freedom Park can be excused his poor second run in the heavy going, and his debut was good enough to win this. What a Man is a year older and must be included. jack the Jetsetter is inconsistent but does have some ability.

I don't think its that easy:
1,2,3,5,6,7 x 1,2,3,4 x 1 x 2,3,6,9,10 x 1,2, 9, 12 x 1,2,6,10

Can anyone confirm the reason for the jockey change on Katak?
