Eish Bob, then I am bloody confused if that is the case! I am talking about actual examples of where I have been paid out, ante post of horses getting scratched AFTER the final field was announced.

If I am wrong, then Ill ask Harry to say a prayer for me tonight as I must have been dreaming when I got paid out for scratched horses in the past...

If you place your bet on an ante-post market you are under ante-post rules

Better you dont craig its to complicated for you..I will try explain in simple english ..the antepost market is for speculators who are offered inflated prices well ahead the time of the race because as most normal people know horses can run poor races they can run good races leading up to the big race they can get injured so you take a risk when you bet on the antepost market ..EXAMPLE i backed the last winner that striker rode in the july for ramsden at 120 to 1 before he ran in the drill hall and on race day he was 16 to 1 and any horse that scratched or didnt run i was unaffected i still got 120 to 1 ..this year i did my money antepost on heros honour and zilzaal ..I recall taking 8 to 1 that horse of jooste that won the derby with frankie and he got scratched from the met as jooste went out and the horse got sold ..OLD SAYING CANT TAKE THE HEAT GET OUT THE KITCHEN..

I can take any heat you and your thief bookmaker friends can produce Harry , trust me on that. As I said earlier to all who are tired of this legalized theft stop supporting the bookmakers it's simple

Not only did I back Hawwaam on the ante-posts (16/10) but at a price lower than what his SP would have been (abt 22/10). So I took a double whammy and was gutted for the scratching. So what have I learnt in forty years of punting? Nothing!

Craig you are clueless if you think there has ever been any time an Antepost bet has been subject to a refund or deduction ... multiple bets or not.

HH has explained everything perfectly but my real question is ... did you stop betting with bookmakers because the EFF held a strike at Turffontein or because bookmakers are thieves ? Your story changes so often it's difficult to keep up.

It seems as if you were right all along HH. For this I apologize and I thank you for enlightening me on the rules. I just have no idea how I got paid out in the past on horses that got scratched after making the final field - hence my confusion.

Similar to you, I lost R5k on Heros Honour (Wins and places). I took it on the chin though, as he didn't make the final field. I knew the risk and understood it when I took that bet.

Going forward, now that I know the actual rules, I am not going to play Ante post. HEAT is a bit too hot for me to handle...

I couldnt care less about betting on sa horseracing , what I dont like is when people support legalized theft

15. Ante post bets
(1) With the exception of starting price bets, should any selection not run for any reason other
than the abandonment of the race itself –
(a) an ante post bet shall be lost and the customer shall forfeit his stake; and
(b) ante post bets struck on other horses/contestants in the race concerned shall not be
subject to any adjustment in betting odds.
(2) Where a race is abandoned, all ante post selections that are still live or undetermined
involving the race concerned, shall become void.
(3) Should a selected horse/contestant in any leg of a multiple event bet be scratched,
withdrawn or not accepted prior to the bet becoming void or being won, the bet shall be
regarded as lost, notwithstanding the fact that any included race is abandoned.
