Africanbettingclan was founded and established jointly by Chris Sturdy and Dave Scott, and credit must go to the two of them.
My role is/was insignificant, as all i did was assist with some finances a few months later.
Whichever way you look at it, Africanbettingclan was the pioneer of 'live' on-line racing and sport discussion in SA via its forum. For the first time open debate, contrasting opinions and ideas were bandied about. From the man in the street to the experts, live discussion and banter ensued. Sometimes heated other times emotional sometimes consensus reached, often controversial but not often boring.
I know many of us (i know i have) have learnt a great deal about sport and racing and most importantly about people.
Met some great folk and made some super friends but also made some enemies. That is the nature of life.
In SA (as in many countries) those in power (the haves) find it abhorrent that they can be exposed or outed and our racing authorities are no different.
They have tried to discredit many of us and tried to intimidate some of us but failed.
Credit and thanks to the sponsors who didnt bow to pressure and withdraw.
Others have mimicked ABC and established their own website(s) and forum(s) but credit to Dave and Chris for pioneerining this open and transparent platform.
ABC is now not about so much who runs it but about its patrons.

As new ventures beckon, i will continue to post when time allows as long as freedom of speech and transparency prevails.
