Night racing returns .... and it's going to be a hot one; judging by the recent results I think we are set for big payouts again - although some of the fields are not that big .... thoughts:
R1: Fort Carol looks hard to beat on penultimate; Tommy the Builder often thereabouts and this trip should suit, while the Magner horses are running right there, so Excellent Al another to consider
R2: Obvious two horse contest, but the other 3 are no slouches - I'm with Redberry Lane
R3: Open handicap; Diamond Dancer ready to win and is my choice; plenty of dangers though with only Sabbatical and Malinga looking unlikely to win
R4: Another open handicap; obvious two are Copper Jay and Donny G, but there may be a lurker here in the form of Battle Creek, who would have a chance on his penultimate and gets blinkers tonight; What a Captain also a bit of a dark horse and was taken out last time while Pillaroftheearth and Great Shaka could feature as well
R5: Hard to judge - betting support seems to suggest that Palace Chapel could be the right one, but there was not much between PC and Ilha Da Varlette last time, while the Fortune pair Big Blue Marble and Winter Storm could have say as well
R6: Everything points to Green Plains; but I have burnt my fingers with Tarry hotties too many times; if she falls in a hole, I think either of Kissable or Wrecking Ball will pick up the pieces
R7: Very competitive renewal of the Victory Moon; Takingthepeace worthy favorite imo,, but for me the value lies with Sabina's Dynasty and the roughies Bankable Teddy and Cash Time; others to consider Arctica ,Deo Juvente and Like a Panther, while for me I suspect that Zouaves may struggle to stay the 1800
R8: Pinnacle stakes complicated by runners 'well in' either not suited to the trip (Legal Eagle) or returning from breaks (Legal Eagle, Pinnacle Peak and Will Pays) so hard to guess how this will play out; Captain's Causeway obviously plagued with problems and returns from another break - has not won for 702 days:ohmy: but has always looked classy and could surprise here running fresh; Mujallad tries cheek pieces and is another who at best could surprise, then we have Angel's Power and Just As I Said who has finished in the first 4 in 8 of his 12 tries over this track and trip - can surely not be ignored
As mentioned at the start, not that easy; for the P6 many will take a chance with Green Plains, but if that one gets rolled, we are in for another bumper payout imo
Enjoy

Lerena to ride the first double

Kilrain looks some value , moved up full of running and tired late , hoping drop down in distance will do the trick

Cascapedia 1/1.
Too short for her but she loves the galloping circuit here which is why I was so impressed with her win LTO.
Redberry Lane will be tough to beat over the mile but if Cascapedia gets an early lead, she can gallop her into the ground.

for centuries it rains often at night in summer yet Phumelela keep carding race-meetings at night during this period -Compare the ordinary card for Saturday with the dual features tonight and other high class racing and you wonder if these people know anything about nature or Racing!! This card should have be run on Saturday for so many reasons but it seems common sense is not common at the Big T

I must apologize to those who programmed this meeting tonight - It's now obvious they did not want the Victory Moon to conflict with the 8 race program , the top race being a MR 92, at Kenilworth this Saturday !!!! We all know people love to punt on 2 Special Maiden Plates rather than a Listed and Gr III race !!!
