the owner lost nothing as its a routine sale. The goods are valued at ex amount the owner is a net plus the 100 - the value - 30 which equals 70 less the value. So the answer must be 0 (i think)

the answer is $100.
Look at it this way...
Ultimately, what did the thief gain BOTTOM LINE??
2 Things...
1) $70 in merchandise
2) $30 in cash
The answer is definitely $100

The owner is $ 100.00 down. The change of $ 30.00 is still part of the (stolen) $ 100.00, the store keeper didn't get any money back (from the originally stolen $ 100.00) despite "selling" goods valued at $ 70.00. Therefore he has lost $ 100.00 + $ 70.00 worth of goods.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I am going with $100. The original $100 was returned in exchange for $70 goods and $30 cash.
I didn't choose the #puntlife, the #puntlife chose me!

100$ when he cashes up his till he will be 100 short - the transaction of goods has no bearing as the 100$ the thief spent is the same as any legitimate transaction - the change given has no bearing - His stock will balance but his till will be short 100$
