We make the same mistake every year by calling them out too early

we do and I'm guilty of it a lot too but we all love horse racing here and we do tend to get over excited sometimes.

but that's the fun of the game for me. Making predictions, very boring game if everyone has the same opinion

Very proud of this horse. Never easy travelling and showed real guts to hold Seerite :)

Also think he has a much better turn of foot when there's cut in the ground - I haven't seen what he showed on debut in any of his runs - I was thinking maybe it was just the level of opposition but yesterday the turn of foot to cruise up to them was similar to his debut. both occasions he had soft ground.

Pity he'll very rarely get soft conditions like that in SA. 14/1 race time was really generous for the only horse that was grade 1 placed(albeit a 2yo feature)

Any of the guys with good memories know who was the last KZN based horse to win the dingaans? I know Harry's son came second...

Gone through the archives. It was Sealegs for David Payne.

.....Imvho I don't think that the Dingaans attracts the best 3yr olds and has lost it's status as a major 3yr old graded contest.....in years gone by winners of this race were the best around and the distance was 1800m.....I thought this year the field was pretty poor....

Agree muhtiman. The best 3yos were not there. A few to keep an eye on though like Seerite. Like a panther will be a derby contender with vacquero. Have to give pietro another chance - threw him in the deep end too soon I imagine..

I reserve judgment on the Dingaans and Summer Cup Day -far too many horses not striding out or coughing etc - I will only accept the form once it has been confirmed

.....one for the note book is the Lope De Vega filly of Rob Scott that won her maiden on Sunday.....not really a fan of the Lope's.....but her dam was an Ozzie Oaks winner and she can be watched over ground but on less firm surfaces....heard big numbers were asked for a slice of this....but not many takers.....so I hope that she can eventually pay her way.....

.....done a bit of digging....something went wrong here..... as she was purchased for Oz$30k.....
.....and only sold on the 2016 CTC RTR for ZAR200K.....but missed out in the CTC RTR races.......if this is the case....they got a good deal because she won with ease with plenty more in the tank... ;)

First Grade 1 for the the season for the 3yo's which is the cape fillies guineas.

Its all about Snowdance for me here. I think she'll love the long run in as she's quite a big sort who looks a galloping type. this has been her mission for quite some time now - the snaiths posted that on social media even before her 2nd start such was the confidence. She has a big chance to join the champions that have won this.

Lady in Black I will have also have a saver on as she's top class herself - Grade 1 winner but was never given a chance LTO - now gets a good draw.

Magical wonderland tried her best to reel in Snowdance but such was the latter's acceleration that she simply couldn't make much inroads. She was running on but I prefer Snowdance.

Also think Love Supreme is a lovely filly in the making. She has beaten some pretty weak fields but with ease. Certainly wouldn't be surprised should she pull it off but I think she may be much better in 6 months time.

What is interesting that the Cape fillies and fillies from Gauteng and PE meet here - of course Snowdance was very impressive last time - but will be tested against Via Seattle and Silver Thursday - imo Silver Thursday is a huge price
