Surely the running rails are not made up of steel for if they were and heavens forbid a horse runs into the rail that can only end in tears.

I think what he said was the horse was "traveling against the steel", which means he is traveling against the bit or on the bit. Don't believe it has anything to do with the running rail (but I have been wrong before)

To be fair, they couldn't have imagined a horse of the quality that beat them and the 2nd horse would pop up in a race like that. In this game , the best you can do is prepare your horse, and spot him where he should win. When a champion emerges and beats you, you gotta take that on the chin. I believe on the exposed form that favouritism was justified, and don't doubt the connections believed it would win --- unfortunately, eye's wide open pops up that's the nature of the game.

Not really- when you being in the game a long time, losing becomes second nature It was just annoying that I made him well worth 5/10 , he goes off at aroound 1/10 and still makes heavy weather of it
