Many many jockeys rode winners for them but I was privileged to represent their main go to guy for a long time. It mattered not who phoned, the rides were secure , sometimes we would drive down to scottsville for 2 rides and a winning double .

Like I said tears, fondness of the 2 Riley brothers and Rene Bonham all missed in my beloved sport.

Good Memories

4 year old maidens were not allowed to run in Natal after April. I bought a gelding from Clodagh Shaw named Agrius who had been placed 2nd in his last 2 starts for R2000. We sent him to Mike at Newmarket who won with him after 2nd start. Might even have been Mikes 1st winner.

Mike bought a 2 year old called Pass the Line at that time for R1000 and won plenty races including a feature race. His owner won 10 full pick6's on the day he won the feature.

When Mike relocated to Natal he was lethal especially at Scottsville.

As an assistant I had one of my biggest bets ever on a horse called Olden Times at Clairwood. Almost sure it was pass the line who came back to beat him. Was devastated but anyway. A few weeks later the horse came back positive. I was livid. Money gone to a positive horse. Ours should never have got beaten. Anyway too late to do anything by then.
