Hot Curry -R3
Murray had this horse inside-outside upsidedown! Very green ... more sensible after that start and goes in...Has a winning draw...7/2 or better available... 2yr old against elders over a mile? De Kock has done it often enough..

King Of Mani - R2

suicidal pace-setter last time - better this trip - best place bet

Knysna Rose -R4

Jockey strike -

Sea Bean - R5

raced wide from gun to tape - drops down in class - massive runner

Arabian Beat - R7

2nd start gelding - was a 110 now 91 ... problems but if he clicks cannot lose against these - Al Azarq - change of rider - I think he'll jump tomorrow then he'll be involved

My best outsider for the day -BOMBS AWAY - R8

nice soft intro to Gauteng racing ... cleared the lungs...25-1

Knysna Rose best Bet followed by Sea Bean

After the easy pickings on Saturday where everybody and his dog won the P6, it is back to the grindstone tonight - even taking into account that Carry on Alice has to fall over to lose.... thoughts:

R1: Woodruff first timer said to need the run, so the Tarry machine looks set to continue where they left off on Saturday; however imo Alex the Great is the value at current odds of 7/1 - on collateral form not that far behind Protea Stakes winner Barrack Street - so I think the first timer will have to pick up his feet .... many others making their debuts so a surprise not entirely out of the question

R2: Interesting contest; Turaathy comes out of strong formline and deserves to be at the top of the boards; the Tarry first timer is a juvenile so could have taken his place in the first race - stable probably hoping to win both races - siblings have all sprinted, so even being by Twice Over may have enough speed to be competitive here; King of Mani also have some decent form, but the other two may pack too much class - still a clear 3rd choice as the other first timers are not finding any betting support

R3: Another interesting race; juvenile Hot Curry imo has a lot to do at this stage over 1600 against his elders - all of Ohio, Silvan Saint and St Joseph are lightly raced, so set to improve - even Dusk comes off a gelding so can also improve - who knows ?

R4: Not cut and dried .... most have had plenty of chances, so the 3 year olds having their second starts need not to be that good to win here; Emerald Bay is my first choice - made a pleasing debut and is a half sister to Lions Emblem, so should not have any problem with the 2000 - Wazeer can only improve on her debut, but she is not finding any betting support; the others (bar Mystical Sword) seem much of a muchness and though none of them can be totally ignored, they may need to settle for place money again - due to the difficult handicaps coming up, one may need to take a stand here

R5: The first of some very tough handicaps on the card; taking a look at the collateral form, my first choice is Rose Water; she won her maiden at a night meeting at this track with JP on her back; she holds Sea Bean (who holds Cold Cash) and Burning Rock (who should hold Dawn Flight) - she did fade in her only attempt at 2000, but was over-racing from pole position that day - ran on in both her starts over 1800 and is by Silvano out of a mare who stayed - definite chance imo; the danger is Dawn Flight who may also now prefer the 2000 and perhaps Barcelona Babe, who reverts to wearing cheek pieces like she did when winning over 2000 at the Vaal; none of the others can be over-looked, but again, one has to make a stand somewhere

R7: Quite a few with chances; Mombela very talented and is unbeaten over this 1160, but obviously has his problems; Romi's Boy set to improve and there should not be much between him and M; Amazing Strike also not out of it with Al Azraq who is set to improve after disappointing over 1000 last time; Arabian Beat said to need still need the run, but who knows?

R8: Time to load up; the 4 obvious ones find themselves at 6/1 at the top of the boards; but Mr H's fancy Bombs Away is a definite inclusion for me - set to turn the tables with Dragoon at the weights; then Seeking Venus is racing in steels, but I for one would not like to miss a P6 with a Tarry runner

R9: That proverbial pin might come in handy here; Mr Rambo and Pied Piperess find themselves at the top of the boards courtesy of decent recent form, but both seem held by Thewaywemakethem on the run behind Dragon's Breath in Feb; Thewaywemakethem in turn should be easily held by real roughie Watabout on a run behind Side Show (and also by Last Battle on a run behind Don Christo) in Jan; Occulus is another who is going to pop up one of these days; then we have the Peter runners - the list just goes on ....

Enjoy B)
