This is the story I was talking about.
This going to be a very interesting verdict and it could go either way I think ..........it is probably whether the judge feels that the failure to read the terms and conditions are more compelling than the Company accepting a bet(contract) that exceeds their own limits?????
If I had to guess , I would guess the ruling will be AGAINST the rulemaker...........they accepted a contract that was contrary to their own rules and that may be ruled as exercising their prerogative?????
(In all my years of insurance ,all rulings went against insurers who contracted contrary to their rules)
This could be a landmark precedent for bookies in SA.

I agree. I think it will go against the bookie as they laid the bet. Its basically stealing imo, as they know the punter cant win that much. I really hope he wins as this will change all legislation and be much better for the punter!

Betfair wouldn't pay you either, so why bring back betfair?
Why not make it regulation for websites software to amend the max stake at the odds so limits are not broken

Some bookmakers, when you walk in and wager a bet this happens automatically.

Betfair is an exchange. They will pay you whatever you win, same as interbet.. I would never use betfair fixed odds section, and I don't understand anyone who would , when you can bet on an exchange. If you want multiples, just roll your win bets.
Can this punter still bet with Sportingbet, the answer is NO. I'm allowed R1 on a horse with sportingbet. Betfair allows you any size always! thats why bring back betfair, cause there is volume and its FAIR!

Yes but you wouldnt be able to win millions for r50
I agree limits are the problem and the main reason why i stopped punting.

That is because you can't develop your own multiples on an exchange-Betfair are merely a facilitator so you are betting with unknown parties. (and often, even more than one party on a single bet)
At least you won't be limited on available bets, though,as you are anonymous to the layer!
You are guaranteed payment, however, as there is no credit facility to backers or layers!!
If The Gambling board were really serious about responsible gambling and transformation they would licence exchanges:
a)no credit means less danger to families etc.
b) The very smallest players can lay bets without needing millions to secure a bookmakers licence.

Not sure of the changed rules etc with Betfair but I always found it a superb product and the initial concept of matching people with opposing views taking a cut then paying the winner was perfect for me and had many hours of fun, trading, laying, playing , going green it was just wonderful.

Nothing has really changed Dave ,except the website has become the victim of corporatization. As you know ,trading necessitates a very stable fast website and the efficacy has deteriorated since the original management sold! (so I'm told

Ok Rob I was treated to a tour of the facility at its peak followed by a day at Kempton and Cheltenham and can only say impressive and world class and then it was a bit of an art to be able to use the site to its full capacity and capability.
The good old days

Warning: Betfair can charge an extra premium on profits over a period to successful punters and layers. I think Bob alluded to this.
