You not answering either? I don't have to answer to you. I can scratch at anytime as a reserve runner.

This coward who will not reveal his/her name obviously does not know that as a reserve runner you do not need a vet reason to scratch. Just take it out. Amazes me why I even answer these idiots. :S

Naresh, well pointed out and you are correct about the decline since 1995.
Where I erred was in not mentioning that the decline that I am talking about is between 2012 and present...my apologies.

Whilst the decline in foals born etc was since 1995, there has been only a portion of that decline since 2012. What I mean is that from 1995 to 2012 is one thing and 2012 to present is another. Also, dealing with EHV every year for the past 3 or 4 tears has been frustrating !
Honestly, we need EHV vaccines to become mandatory, as in Europe.

I think that u are a bit harsh on Craig here. Let me tell u my story rather..
On Friday, Trisha Dupont jarred her joint lightly at work. Today she won. This is because we put in the hours and our attentions worked. Now, if she was a reserve runner for Saturday or Sunday or Tuesday, I would have exercised my right to scratch without penalty and run today.
Whilst Craig and I are always opposed on the KZN thing and a few others ( Striker better than Superman

(lost half my previous post)...

I have respect for Craig as a horseman, someone who cares for the wellbeing of horses and as someone who will always find answers to our questions, will make an effort for racing and will stand firmly by his opinion.
It is not necessary to bring uglies into the thread, imho.

Thank you Louis. Although we disagree on certain things in racing we both put our owners and horses first which is right. I haven't a clue what the Stigs side of the story is and I actually don't care. More important things in life and racing. :)

Mr Eudey, you say that you are for protecting KZN owners but I've never heard of an Owner looking for protection. This is a sport which is about a competition to find out who is best. We bet on it. All horses from KZN are welcome anywhere without if's or but's. That includes centres who only race once a week.

If those once a week centres have no restrictions, you certainly are not on the moral high ground because everyone "wants" to protect their customers, who wouldn't want to? But if the owners don't need or want protection, and are happy to play on a level field then you are just bunch of trainers hiding behind your owners' skirts as an excuse.

Nothing that shelters behind protection, or receiving a subsidy, ever gets strong enough through it's own evolution to survive in the end, so good luck with that.

If there is a single owner in KZN who thinks their horse can't or shouldn't run in a normal maiden like everyone else, against all comers (all other maidens), then post here and explain with pride and honour.

Mini Tycoon, there are restrictions in other centres even if it is that we just cannot get boxes to race there. Shows that you don't know much. Guys as of right now as I am sick of defending/arguing with posters who only comment hiding behind pseudonyms, if I don't know you personally or you don't private message me with a name and verifiable telephone number, I will not reply, comment or help where can on any post's made by you. The ones I do know, know who they are.

Mini Tycoon - restrictions also apply in Kimberley and PE, where local Trainers get guaranteed runners.
Gold Circle/KZN only restrict outsiders in terms of using their own stables. When visitors are stabled in a Gold Circle Training Centre, you cannot bring older maidens and horses rated lower than 74. But, should u be stabled next to Summerveld in a private property, for example, no restrictions apply.

Craig - If your raiding string is about 10 or 12 strong, you can get visitors boxes at any centre in SA. I guarantee it.

Ultimately, Merit Rating System already helps the weaker horses. We surely don't need to still protect those. The best horses available must compete. Otherwise the next restriction will be something like this.....
"any horse that has won more than 9 races or has earned more than R1M may not race in KZN excepting in graded races."

We may go further down the road with Marx and add some more KZN conditions, eg
"5.7 - After a horse has won -
5.7.1 -his/her 3rd race , all further stakes earned will be subject to a deduction of 30% of the stakes earned by the horse.
5.7.2 -his/her 6th race, all further stakes earned will be subject to a deduction of 50% of the stakes earned by the horse.
5.7.3 -his/her 10th race, all further stakes earned will be subject to a deduction of 90% of the Stakes earned by the horse.

5.8 - All stakes accrued from 5.7 shall be transferred to the KZN Special Stakes Fund and shall be distributed to the weaker horses in KZN.
