How can you say that? how do you know what the dividend will be?
We will be playing into enormous pools this weekend and with the CHANCE of a massive payout I for one would certainly not like to be going into the last few legs hoping for a result but not too big a result as to surpass the limits ...to each their own i guess.

@ Neigh..a bit off the subject but did you notice a run of the 1st race winner today Pataudi??
www.formgrids.com/subscriber/fgRaceResul...7SV996,ZA&hs=PATAUDI
on the strength of that had to be a massive runner

How i see it - don't complain about limits or small tote pools if you are playing the open bet with your bookies.

This is a chicken and egg situation.....the open bet has its merits BUT what i do believe is that the limits are "low and outdated"
The TOTE is better but if you want a serious win or even if you play a certain way that could lead to a serious win you probably want to avoid the tote.
The TOTE though is BETTER for horse racing no doubt.....
For me i have not had a tote bet in sa since the 3rd August, that day by taking a tote bet on Betfair i scooped 38% of the jackpot pool.
Had i played the "open Bet" the Jackpot wound never have paid R4800 but about R9000...
The thing is i planned to "catch" so much, it was the "perfect storm" as far as results were and all of a sudden the money was in.....
I avoided the open bet this time because the last time i put myself into a situation like this i took the open bet, i spent about R4200 with a SA bookmaker and took mostly trifectas and quartets.....Well what can i say, i won over R400k in 1 race. The trifecta pool was R59k and the q Pool was R120k...figs might be a bit wrong but they are not far wrong.....
The bookmaker COULD not by law pay me more than the pool, so i ended up "winning" R180k and a valuable lesson....
If i play tote bets in the future ill play as follows...
8/10 x field x 12/10 x field - tote
8/1 x field x 5/2 x field - open bet with various firms....
so anything that is bound to "pay little" ill put through betfair and on the tote, anything that can pay bombs goes through live bet...
anybody that doubts ill email Bob both my acc names and passwords.....
BTW , being overseas and "winning" big sometimes is because we are 20/1 ahead on currency and now i FULLY believe that people CAN influence tote dividends and by people i mean NOT even FULL on serious bets.
That day at fairview i caught £3 x jackpots but obviously because of the currency exchange R4800 = £4800 and I'm sure some okes thought "dmm that jackpot paid kak....

Is it luck? I played a reverse forecast with William Hill in race 6,The White Flower to beat Cassia(only went on name and draws) and had £530.20 multiple times,if it was exacta it was a 1/3 of the payout.
How can you judge a pool.

Yes dave
The nett jackpot pool was R534k in sa after every race we know how many tickets are live.
That day i think it returned R4800 to about 120 tickets. I had 3 x£ so about 58-60 of the tickets through betfair co mingling....so on that day had i played the open bet my return would have been higher..
BUT
Truth is if i play in rands i NEVER catch that many jackpots....possibly 40

I cant belive im helping you after what u called me and attempted...
Yes on sa you can see what exactas are paying ( sa and uk) and sometimes rather take FC
But the way you and i and others in the UK play we can really shift divedends because £100 exactas is 2000 winning tickets

Can you elaborate on what " I attempted "
I'm sure the masses are dying to know what convoluted, bewildering, baffling statement that is.
If you've had a few light ales I will let it slide,as we can all be guilty of talking shite now and then.

Joao,
There are two bookies in UK that will take tote bets on SA racing and it won't go into the pool.being a pro gambler/tipster I thought you knew that.
