YouTube is also talking about a subscription service particularly to its Music side. They're talking about 8 quid a month. Not for me.

Certainly highlights the value of R200 a month for Formgrids Pro

One thing I would highlight is if we run a free tipping compo we get 300 entries some punters I did not even know on the forum, if u have a buy in ( even if it's only R100) we would get around 30
Just a thought

If you earning in the top bracket range R200 is minuscule. If you earning a nett salary say of R8000 per month thats 2.5% of your salary. After you pay your bond, your transport to work and other expenses, R200 comes alot for a person earning R8000 and below. Plus you have to have internet access to view formgrids which adds to your expenses. Most people who do have internet access in South Africa are above average income earners so formgrids subscription wont be a problem for them. Spare a thought for the less fortunate!

I wanted to keep it free because of all the benefits it brings to the game and agree that we will lose some users, but without industry support i am forced to charge, i have forked out for many years, if certain people don't understand what they see in Formgrids then i must concentrate on those that do,
it is obvious from the comments from pirates, rob, louisg and others make that they understand Formgrids, so they see the real value in it and are our supporters, using Formgrids equates to entering an ever changing virtual world full of important information relevant to understanding the complex world of horseracing, you can spend hours and hours going into past results and gain an insight into form, stats, breeding, etc, ,,
Formgrids takes your understanding of racing and makes it clearer,
We offered Phumelela our time and services to be involved in an educational television program called Inform with Formgrids,
Formgrids is simple to use and once explained
If shown, a young fresh mind can quickly grasp the Formgrids concept and he/she can now make sense of form and go about researching all aspects of racing and finding his own possible winners and that's a sure way to get interested and to KEEP him in the game

I have no objection to being charged for Formgrids or anything similar, I am not sure why anyone would think it should be free. That said, I am a little perplexed at why wolf and/or Mr A are asking about the price level, surely this can be estimated based on the amount they feel they need to generate, whether it as a non-profit or profit making "organisation", against the anticipated number of subscribers?
Could they advise what aspects of the site would still be free? Although I find it an extremely valuable tool, I doubt very much I go into it as in depth as some, So, just being selfish
it would be good to know what would still be available to one n all, and this would no doubt help those people who Naresh is referring to decide on the way forward for them.

Hey Dave, we will have a sliding scale discount for long term payments. We haven't finally decided but a year's subscription will probably get a month free. We will likely also run opening specials, etc.

I do not use the site as much as most but the question for me would be, will there be varied rates for those who only race at one or two centers? I dont buy the race card for every center every day....

Hi Englander, Thank you!
Yes, of course, we will determine our price but we did want to get a feel for what the "market" will accept.
All good websites have a free portion so users can experience the site and service before committing. While we have not fully decided where the cut-off points should be, the site will not be too different from what you see now. Some things will definitely only be available to the Pro User.
Essentially, a free user will be able to get what he/she wants but will have to work harder. The Pro User will have more features turned on plus the following:
1. Length Behind Tool (moved to Pro section)
2. Formline Finder - helps find Formlines without the laborious looking
3. Watchlist - provides a facility to store horses you want to "watch"
4. Indicators - the grids will have system calculated indicators like "below form"
5. Notes (moved to Pro section)
All of the above will be expanded upon over time. Plus we have some additional tools in the design locker which will be developed, tested and deployed in the next few months.
Hope that helps
