That is a great winning ticket none the less, more than $2500.

That owner is making it real hard to like horse racing.....what a tool!!!!

i liked the CC story partly because of their balls of going it alone....now I just think he is an un-coothed swamp critter. He has taken a swipe at the TC, at other owners, at Churchill. This guys surely doesn't deserve this great horse!

From Sky Sports:

"Trainer Art Sherman said he believed California Chrome "grabbed a quarter" or injured his right front hoof coming out of the gate. When California Chrome returned to his barn, he was bleeding lightly from the back of his hoof.

"The injury did not stop him from running, but a rival trainer said it likely was extremely painful. "He's a pretty courageous horse to finish fourth," said Billy Gowan, the trainer of Ride On Curlin."

The favourite patently didn't get home the last bit.

He was travelling much better than the winner into the stretch but emptied when it counted.

The owner was crying foul that the first and second horse didnt take part in the first two legs of the Triple Crown, and the third horse skipped the Preakness. Says its unfair and called the ordeal "cowardly". No point saying that after the race - bring it up before the result imho. Looks like a sore loser now.

Silly thing to say, could never imagine someone in the UK making that statement with the 2000, Derby and St Leger :S

I heard his interview - Now he wants the same horses that start the TC to finish it - That's not the point as this is a contest to see what three-year-old colt can take on all comers over the three legs - Seems like a loon and to call the winner's connections "cowardly" is just bizarre - As I always say there are more Donkeys in the stands then on the tracks most days!!
