I think Matfield has been part of the Bulls' revival - look what happened when they went without him against the Lions

- so imo he deserves his spot and the captaincy on current performance; however I agree that it's not the right move in terms of the future - maybe the fact the Etsebeth is still unavailable is a factor in his selection :S

The fact that this is a temporary appointment invalidates the "building a new captain" approach. We know for sure that Jean De Villiers will get the captains armband back when he's recovered from injury. The best option therefore is to utilise the experience currently available.

I really believe now was the time to look for a long term Captain. Great as Jean has beenn, the injuries are becoming more frequent now. How long can the body hold out

Same can be said how he kept playing Spies when out of form.. Thumbs down for that coach. Rory Kockett is gonna show himself properly this weekend.. Meyer is going to scratch is head pondering- should have offered Rory a call up too..
