Not much time today, hoping Gunter Wrogemann will have a good day! I know he's already had one winner to date so that will probably be his lot, knowing my luck!
Race 4 - Vestal Virgin: Definite signs that a win was on its way last time out when running over this C&D in a much better grade. That was her best run for a while and she's dropped in the weights, so to see such a nice run would indicate she's shaping like she is in form and has found her level. The big field should ensure a fair pace (which she needs) and I really think the current favourite is vulnerable here, even though you can excuse their latest start. I though VV would be something closer to 3/1, and have backed her accordingly at her current odds of 7/1.
Race 6 - Probably an horrifically stupid bet but Captive Consort is no 50/1 shot, even though he may not even get out of the gates. Definite signs of temperament last time when looking like he was going to refuse to race, eventually going off 5 lengths behind and never getting involved. Before that though, he was unfortunate to lose the race in the Stewards room on debut and although that wasn't much of a race, it definitely showed that he acts around the track, has a fair level of ability (especially to run so well on debut) and on the basis of that run, he'd be rated around the mid 60's very possibly, which wouldn't put him out of things in such a weak feature race at the weights. A risky bet but a cracking one at such huge odds. Paper had it in at 7s, I'd go something similar and plenty of mileage at such a big price.
