Futura is now rated 91 (gross of course)- now that is obviously too low and his connections (if they want to run in the July) will now need to find another race to boost his rating - or they could probably request to have the 'cap' of getting only 6 points for winning on Friday evening be ignored - no way he can get into the July off his current rating.
If I remember correctly, Wendywood qualified for running in the July by winning the Woolavington (stand to be corrected) - also the July had 20 runners then ............

the company can decide on who runs in the race therefore even if horses with higher ratings are above him the company have the right to give future a run above those ahead of him in the ratings

Hi Guys,
I think this horse may be something special(time will tell though)
Agree that he hasn't beat anything of any merit as yet, but the way he won on Friday suggests there is more scope for improvement
Hope he doesn't get sold and leave before the July
Would be great to see Futura take its place (if qualifying)
I think we could see a fancied runner win this year (unlike the last few years...

Yes, the 'company' has the final say, not sure though whether they would give the thumbs-up to a 3 yr old with a rating of 91 (as it stands today).
This discussion is interesting, but the first thing that needs to be established is whether the connections want to run him in the July - the way his price is shortening suggests that this may be the case - but if they have other plans in mind (export?), the point becomes mute.
If they do want to run him in the July, the ideal would be to get him into the race with the lowest MR possible, so I think they have two options; either appeal to the handicapper to have his MR increased, or find another race for him - and as mentioned before, the Cup Trial could prove the right race - especially off his current MR.
Another point mentioned on here is which is the better of the Crawford 3 yr olds - most seem to think that Futura is the better one, but who knows? If the stable thinks that F is better than Captain America, they might not mind running him in the DN (with the knowledge that if he wins that, he could end up giving weight to the likes of Legislate and CA in the July)

After a scintillating victory in last Friday’s Bettingworld Consolation at Greyville, trainer Brett Crawford has reported that the up and coming colt has pulled up very well.
Talking from Summerveld, Brett indicated that his next start will be in the Cup Trial with the hopes of qualifying for the Vodacom Durban July.
When chatting to stable jockey Glen Hatt, he was full of praise for FUTURA, ” this guy continues to impress us all. He does whatever we ask of him in a professional manner. The future looks exciting.”
Now a 4 time winner from 5 starts, the son of Dynasty looks to be something special.
As for now, it is full steam ahead towards the Cup Trial and hopefully the July.
