I find it amazing they find people to bet on these races. Just goes to show phumelela really is sitting with all the cards as people will quite literally bet on anything.

He is if you look at his stats but mabaya no mug either - has a better record than Semela .
Non runners done for sp though . had this with Brown Sugar & Vertical Approach in e/w Patent. Thought there was just a chance at one stage that Buddys Falcon might have hung onto a place (greedy)

Tommy, the quality of horse and jockey might be lower little league but the opportunity to win money today is imo very much more likely at Turffontein. Nearly always the way, big meetings bring the quality horses but they are all too often a punter's graveyard.

Not sure i agree with you engels, those quality horses are just that cause they more reliable and perform consistently better than the lower grade horse. Imo its not always about the punt, watching decent horses run is just as much a thrill for me.

unfortunately it seems the standard of riding has dropped so you take your chance that the rider does not add another 10kg onto your horse due to inexperience

Greg, your point about the quality of horse is of course fair and I was speaking solely from a gambler's perspective. I rarely get a thrill from a horse's run is the honest truth, 99% about the punt for me. And I expect to do better at Turf today. Just saying, may not be true but that is where I have the greater confidence. Anyway... :)
