If a trainer advises an owner that the horse does not have a chance then why on earth is the horse in the race?

"only fools and horses"

Horses can make a fool of us all, if you own a horse have a wee punt on it no matter what anyone tells you.
It costs you 7000 to feed so you might as well have a 500 ew

MrMac is a little different. He has been very successful in business and also has had some very good horses in his colours but even through those days he tended to be in tattersalls sitting with the boys -he has no airs and graces.
What appears to have been missed was , he mentioned he liked to " work things out himself" and if you used form , that horse could not get a sniff unless it had improved dramatically in its fitness/ soundness/ well being !
Any horseman worth his salt should have at least been able to give some sort of positive indication when a horse improves some 15 lengths.
I would guess that any further involvement in ownership will be in a different type stable environment.
I will tell you that it is very unfair to judge the man on one situation where he was clearly incensed!
Maybe he would also like the NHA to ask for an explanation..... But it will be in vain!

What amazes me is that often you hear owners going off, but they keep buying horses for the same stables.

You're forgetting Bret Webber as well, and probably even more.

I have been reading the thread and it is beyond me how you can call a person whom you have never met and know little about a 'dick" and "moron"?
Mr. Mac in his lifetime has spend probably more money on horse racing than many of the persons calling him a "moron" and "dick"
he is nearly 80 but still supports racing and had in some cases more experience that al ot of the posters on this forum.

The question is asked why do he support the small trainers?
because he cares, he told me on a trip to Dubai in 2009 that he support the smaller trainers as they deserve a chance and he has bought some well bred yearlings to train for them, but he also said if he has a horse with good potential he will only use one trainer and that is MDK.
He always treated me and my wife me with respect and he had some very good insight in racing and what needs to be done for racing.

and yes he was upset on Thursday and his babble did not make since but to call him a moron or a dick because of that is not on

Spot on James..............he has won the July and Gold Cup,the Met.etc etc..............and at different times owned some of the best sprinters in the land and chose a lot of them himself(so no "one hit wonder" ).......................many would love to be that moronic!!!!! >:D<
Perhaps he believed some of that nonsense that if you give a poor stable good horses, they will succeed.....Yeah right!

He has a right to say what he believes, there are lots of trainers that bullshit there owners, that's why people with money take no shit from trainers, they want results, and need to know what's going on,with there horses, its a business to them as well as a hobby.
