Personally I wouldn't send a horse to a trainer that has never won a Group 1 race, assuming they have been in training for at least 5 years.
Let's say it like this, trainers who have never trained a group 1 winner - are in all likelihood less than average.

I'm confused , unless "shake your head" is a euphemism for something else in Scotland, you are disagreeing.

I would love to see the glow in the top gr1 winning trainers eyes when the owner rocks up with a 30 k miesque approval. Party Line please forgive me for my ignorance on who you are as an owner , can you please tell me how many grade 1 races you have won.

Not having a go at anybody just stating my approach to ownership, there's a hundred decisions you have to make as an owner and most of it is budget dependent.
It's given that owning horses costs money in the long run but owning half decent animals will help you to "stay in the game."
So picking the right stallion, trainer, stud or even the right time to sell your horse, is what the GAME is about.
If you are a horse racing fan then just becoming a small owner is a success in itself.
I prefer to not talk about my horses on abc but PM me if you really want to know, I've been very fortunate for a young owner...... mainly because of the trainer I race with.
