No TH thats not what I am saying. Top and champions are far apart from one another. Competing against the same bunch all the time and winning doesnt make you a champion. My question to you is how many top Tripple ?? contenders over the years have become champions ? Except for MDK's two ?? Compete against the best, YES then you can talk about a champion.
Excuses for a top horse like COTT I have heard every year over and over.
Champions rise above excuses !

But they cannot raise above the inevitable steadier of the weight burden.
COTT was absolutely unfairly handicapped, in fact, I wouldn't be surprised if she never races again due to her rating. Where can she run? She was given 60kg's against the colts as a young 4 year old......good luck with that. Good colts can carry heavy weights but it is tough for a filly to do that against colts running over 1 1/4 miles.
I'm not saying COTT is a champion but she is a damn near perfect specimen.

Now I agree with you TH and that is very sad. It makes a mockery of our handicapping system but there are races for her out there. She will receive her sex allowance. WFA races.
My point is that these Tripple ?? races carry no weight in determining a champion or way above average horse because you are limited to one provence.

I can't see LTK losing the Derby
RF and GW were both bullish about LTK's chances of winning the Derby in the post-race interview.
RF had said that LTK only got going the last 100m and it was evident as he won going away...
Funny how we as punters and racing enthusiasts always question a "champion" and try find something to beat it. I've been guilty of it in the past...
A good horse, is a good horse and hopefully LTK will prove that.
