No-one can begrudge anyone that achieves success through putting in the hard yards so hope that Bling gets across the line in first...

I hope so Titch as Bling deserves the title and has worked hard to get to where he is (tu)

Really I do not understand some Clanners. It has been stated that the Stipes SEE a lot more detail than we do on our TV screens. They uphold their original finding so they are wrong just because Mr Khumalo is what ever.
Many Clanners, and I am one, bemoan the fact that Racing is not POLICED effectively and when it is done we get all this krap. I just hope that the precedent has been set and that ALL Jockeys are dealt with in a similar way for similar OFFENCES.
On a previous post wrt Stephen Jupp I was told 'BALLS' but what was the Trainers/Owners input. If they told the Jock to give the Horse an easy ride then they should also be given a min 60 day penalty or an equivalent monetary penalty. So does anybody still think there is no GRAFT, I say BALLS so wake up and smell the Roses. What is needed is REAL transparancy by making public the facts. Without this it is expected to attract new young entrants, they are just too clued up to buy the SH-- we old timers accept. FFS how do I explain this to my kids and their friends.
BTW I really feel for S'Manga as he appears to be the scapegoat as IMVHO I have seen a lot of SOFT rides which should also be investigated.

Clearly Anton and Piere are not going to chase, as the R250k prize is no longer. However, I do believe that Smango is riding at the top of his game right now and that he will, deservedly, win the title.
As for your post, Fog, I agree with you in principle. We need the Stipes to police the game and it should be encouraged when they do. There will be times when they get it wrong. Overall, I don't think that a jock who is chasing the title ever wants to give a soft ride to any horse, unless, maybe, the horse really cannot win or place. I also think that where you are right is that the tall trees take the wind and the likes of Anton, Piere, Smango and Gavin are closely scrutinised always whilst others and their actions are hardly noticed... This happens in most other Sports too.
Ultimately though, imagine the end result in races if every suspension is taken to court and NHRA lose.... no suspensions and jocks will do as they please.

What was troubling is that after spending 2 hours plus to reach their verdict and much debate they decide to uphold the board's original finding that 2 months was the right sentence but then add that it was a frivolous appeal and that S'manga's deposit should be forfeit :S this smacks of bias, if it was indeed frivolous why take as long as they did to reach a verdict? whether or not you are in the "fair or unfair camp" one thing that surely presents common ground here is that this whole scenario has been handled with an over zealous and heavy hand, the only question that remains unanswered is why.
Give everything but up!

An interesting thing to note is that Jockey Kumalo is regarded as being very vigorous as a rider and has gotten a few fines for that type of ride - on the 22-12-2013 he received a R7000 fine for just that for his ride aboard Lavender Landscape but now he is found guilty of giving an "easy" ride. I still wish I knew what Mr Tarry's instructions were.

This ban is way too harsh even by Aus standards!!!

Titch, I may be wrong here, but I dissagree with you as to what happens next.
imho, the suspension will stand and be in force immediately after all carded engagements have been fulfilled. The court case will then be the decider.
If not so, then NHRA will have a precedent which will create havoc in future, as all suspensions will be "delayed". Imagine a Trainer openly doping horses and keeping at it for as long as he can delay court cases and findings...?
Having written the above, I still believe that Bling will win the title anyway. He definitely deserves it !

Smanga had no winners in the weekend so this suspension thing is really affecting his riding.

Titch would defend amongst others Adolf H Idi A Pol P etc etc
All {or most} on this site are convinced that racing is crooked and there are horses pulled up each week
Now a top jockey who is the most vigoures of all bar Marcus sits and does nothing out of the gate and then
almost nothing the last 300 and everbody is upset
In Hong Kong the suspension would have been 6 months plus
What you should understand there is a new sherriff in the RSA and 2 stipes are gone HISTORY
The little things that were overlooked in the past are being punished and there will be others
So Titch learn to live with all your socalled mates getting fines and suspensions
