marshalls phoned me at 2 pm yesterday...informing me of the decision regarding Abbysinia....well done to them...but whilst all this goodwill is floating around...i think its not too soon to mention...that the biggest compliment must go out to forumites and BOB and SCOTT for allowing us punters to have a voice...take a step back guys...digest it all...pat on the back...and now go forward..the question we should all ask...if any of this was possible,...without ...AFRICAN BETTING CLAN....in the same breath i would say to the highest people in racing authorities...u will be taking a step in the right direction by liasing with this forum instead of seeing it as a threat...your sample market is right here..get on board nd use it to your advantage...because this " UNION'...IS GATHERING momentum every passing day...bravo cosatu...ooops sorry....bravo ABC

LG...i have been long enough in the game to know how to get on and with who to get on with as far as limits are concerned....no body in this town can teach me about :"getting on"....i got onto a horse ,first timer...at 4/1 for over 200 000 without shortening it......but when it was race time...all panic buttons were pressed....how i got on...i will reveal....because i have other ideas in mind...on an open forum....
i find a game where only 2 results are possible...normally i like to find a cricket game..but i dont bet on the out come of the game...because our bookies still need to learn about percentages...and i want to get on with losing the bare minumum..so lets take today for instance...the dolphins are playing the cobras..at 4pm or so....i wpould have gone into the rooms at about 11 am...and bet on the 'MARKET " WHICH SAYS COIN TOSS....NOW NORMALLY BOOKIES HAVE THIS MARKET RIGHT....THEY NORMALLY BET 0.95/1 THE PAIR...SO I AM PREPARED TO LOSE 5 %....i start taking doubles 0.95/1 cobras...onto my 4/1 shot for tommorrow...double works out 7.75/1...BUT i take it with both teams..a grand each...mill around...take it again...take it agian at anothet counter for 500 etc....by the time 4 pm comes i am averaging 3.9 the horse...but even that is waived..because most bookies have a built in stretch eg marshalls will give 4.3/1 off a 4/1..so i am back to 4/1....reality kicks in with them when they put in the result of the coin toss...then they look at the next leg...and then panic sets in..but i am already on...
coming back to open bets p6...i will never take it with the bookie...if the net pool is over 1 million..anything under...like a kimberley meeting of a pool of 700000..i will not take it on the tote i will always play that with the bookie...mauritius pa ,p6 jp....only open bets...because i could never reach their ceiling limit anyway...but i also have the chance of winning the whole pool without altering dividends...so there is no hard and fast rule of where u should take,...decipher and on each situation, check where u r going...that is with the pools
another thing.....i have a good thing in mauritius...6/10...cant lose....i will play with the rules...normally the place pool is around 20 k...so what do i do...i take the same modus operendi..double the cricket toss onto tote place the 6/10 the next day...bookies clerks laugh at me....each ticket for no more than 1k each...thats taken early....a minute before race time..i put 3k (depending what the size of the pool is at the time) on the other 7 horses(assuming its a 8 horse race)....place dividends manipulated...favourite gonna pay nothing less than 4 to 5 rand a place...could be more...and collect form bookie/s...120k....for an investment of 30 + 21k...but i am gonna get back at least 6 k..because 2 other horse have to fill the first 3 anyway...

Guru you make a hell of a lot of sense ! (would love to have a drink with you as I will definitely walk away much wiser - we are "busy" with one or three money horses in the yard right now and I know that we are going to battle to get on favourably, simply because bookies lose when we win.)
Obviously I am going to take all of my exotics on the tote because it directly effects stakes. Again, though, I feel sorry for the punter who got short changed by the bookie laying the open bet. This is unfair, in my books.
If the bookies insist on laying the open bet, they must be forced to pay the proper dividend !

Or at least up it to something more respectable

louis for me is simple re. let me say the bookies in my opinion in the rules they make are correct as far as i under stand. to me they "stand" the p6 bet and give the maximum of 500000 on the single ticket. when you bet the percentage is no a "full" ticket so you can no get full amount. if your theory is correct what stop punter from take FxFxFxFxFxF for 1% and claim total dividend every time? these is obvious is wrong. the limit is more the problem than the rule, no?
now may be i give impression i am for bookie. these is definitely no the case for me if bookie close in south africa is good thing for our horse raceing. BUT. if some one is take the open bet then they must be clear what is the rule. is like go through the speed trap at 120 in 60 zone you cant say but 5km down road the limit is 120 now why i go to jail! all though i dis agree with open bet i have to say is no bookie fault that the punter no under stand rules
