Sorry Flash I'm with Bobsmith here the tote is what generates all the money for stakes and for the game I have no problem with that - but they treat us like shite so screw them any bookmaker is better for me limits or no limits. The truth is they give me far better service and untill P and TAB wake up I'm on the open bet. Sorry just my opiniom

is the valid point bloodshot but to me the issue is not only limits it is how the bookies treat there customer. in term of facility 100% they are better than tote, in other areas is much the same so rather go hong kong route and every one beside the bookie is the winner.

I don't think I am the only person who would cut back drastically on racing if fixed odds betting was not available........and if "P" understood the situation ,they would apply for,and be granted, the right to extend the tote to offer a fixed price product.
An independent commission recommended the granting of the licences(it is up to "P" to present their credentials as a natural recipient) and it has been stalled by bookmaker objections....(what a surprise)

The amount of tax generated from bookmaker activity in the 4 major betting provinces is as follows
Eastern Cape R3,439,000
Gauteng R43,615,000
Kzn R38,930,696
Western Cape R16,864,270
TOTAL R102,848,966
In other words R102 Million, from tax generated by Punters, collected by bookmakers,Delivered to Phumelela and Gold Circle.
Lucky put that in your pipe and smoke it.!!

The point im making is that the operators take out 22% on tote pools but return to the Provinces for hospitals, roads, bridges only 1.5% on turnover which is a pittance compared to what comes from bookmakers. The bookmakers return to punters an average of 89 % but the tote only 78%,and those are audited totals. But phumelela is a listed company owned in part by their directors so they derive income from the punters tax but racing suffers because they cant afford to increase the stakes because bookmakers are taking all the money.Check out the better premises, stop feeding the directors

The bookmakers pay nothing. The punters pay the betting tax and bookmakers just hand it over. I agree a fortune is generated from betting tax though.

Punters pay for nearly the entire horse racing industry, the point that is missing to some..
We are without doubt the most important part of the industry
we are also the least important part of the industry

You guys are thick!! The tote also pays nothing.I can't believe that you are so stupid. The tote takes out on average 22.5% from all all your money everyday on every bet but you believe that they take nothing. On every pool bet of say R1 million rand they take out on average R220,000 rand from the punter. If you think I'm wrong i will challenge you in a court of law.Im right and they are wrong. On soccer bets they by law are entitled to take out 33% of the total pool. What a liberty!! And when bookmakers who can't work out who to make the favourite and bet at 130% you all scream but on soccer bets where they have no liability and no cost they take 33%.I have never seen such complaining punters in my life.God Bless All of You
