Tellytrack was formed in 2002 at a meeting at Turffontein which was attended by bookmakers and Phumelela directors on a cost only basis with about 200 licenced bookmakers and 400 tab outlets covering the cost.Every year a balance sheet was given to all contributers and an increase was agreed to cover the cost of the service.At the outset 42000 people were classified as viewers and it was then thrown open to every subscriber on DSTV.Now Phumelela are trying to turn it into a money making venture not for racing but for the already very wealthy directors who control racing.Dont forget every cent in racing comes from the punter Phumelela returns only 75% of any winning bet to the punter and a bookmaker returns 90% to the punter.That is why they hate the bookmakers because they are holding more money today than the tote.
