maybe a stupid question but how far is 1 lenght exactly in centimeter or meter.....searched it but cannot find anything....help will be appriciated

The BHA handicaper uses this guide,not exactly the question you asked but should help

5 lengths per second for AW Fibresand and when the going is soft or worse

6 lengths per second for AW Polytrack and when the going is good to soft or better

Without wanting to sound too clever, I would imagine that would vary depending on the size of the horse (all horse cannot be the same length from nostril to bum) and whether in a standing position rather than extended racing position.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

and considering the 8 feet.....its nothing to do with times but still 1 length on sand is further than 1 length on turf/grass.... ? any inputs will help
