Englander,

The theory is luck plays a major role and the horse itself is more/ equal to trainers ability.

But the problem she is one....

The top lots on sales, are often not the champions. Rarely so are the bottom lots....so imho the medium priced lots are the ones that come to the fore year in year out. This tells me they are accessible to most if not all trainers....this then leads me to the fact that most if not all trainers purchase from this band ( middle band) the thing is most then FAIL.....

Ive been to sales, i used to look at the underbidder and then ask myself ......mmm wonder how they would have fared with this animal 2 years down the line?

At a sale everyone has a chance to buy......its what happens after....and surely that has something to do with training/ riding methods....

Leons credentials speak for themselves.....every yard he "joined" improved.

I wish i had the funds, i would send him 20 horses in a heartbeat....

Easy,

(lmao!)

The theory is this thread was primarily about the trainer showing much appreciated transparency about FFC and the horse hopefully returning sound.

The problem is... it has been turned round to be a discussion on training methods etc, with the impression I get that it mostly concerns one trainer with the occasional use of a thinly disguised cloak that it is about training in general.

If people want a discussion on training methods, how to spot the right horse etc then I suggest a new thread is started and it is discussed "in general" rather than, by implication, being about one particular trainer who quite honestly, should not have to listen to and hopefully is not listening to, some of the stuff written here.

PS I said skill and luck often go hand in hand, I read nothing in your post that suggests they do not :P (tu) And that is my final comment on this thread and I would love it to be the last by anyone! B)

The fact that the training programme of FFC was interrupted is not Craig or the horses fault.
Craig operated within the practices of the industry...........it is the practices that need attention!
Craig was also open and transparent about the situation to the forum. However that is ,in the context of the industry ,a handful of people.
What about the thousands of punters who were unable to trust the ratings because a horse was running that could not compete on merit?
The fact that Craig is a loved clanner does not count in the bigger picture.........Leon is absolutely right...........consistency cannot be a factor unless the regulators enforce the rules that are ALREADY IN PLACE (but ignored) to ensure horses are raced on MERIT............published workouts and/or barrier trials would also help.
Lets forget fault or emotion.........simply another race where ratings were irrelevant and just another small blow to the integrity of an industry which struggles to engender trust at the best of times.
No wonder the casino industry sponsors racing without fear or concern for the competition.......spot the irony!

Thanks to the guys who are supporting me. I really appreciate it. I now know what the international rugby coaches etc must feel like when I tell them they don't know what they are doing!:D I mean the highest I ever got playing Rugby was under 14f's at Maritzburg Colledge but surely I know more than they do!;) Seriously, some seem to think I should have scratched him??????????? That would certainly have helped his preparation for other races. I will do what is right for the Owner and Horse 1st then worry about what is said about me. Actually I wont do that either.:P

You went to college?????

Just joking.....sorry could not resist.

Craig serious though, i know its tough. They are animals and so are the horses. They cant talk i get it. Some work well and flop on race day. Some trainers dont even engage with punters, you do and well done. Obviously with engagement come bliss and pain, much like an engagement between man and woman. Having said all that i can guarantee you that 99% of people on here love racing as much as you and want only the best for the sport the horse the trainer the owner the groom the jockey and the punter.

Rob is correct in his summation and infact what we are mostly saying on here believe it or not is in your defence.....

If i was not on ABC and i bankered your horse , my perception would be that either
1: bad ride
2: bad trainer
3: bad horse

I guarantee you people would have been cursing its run in shops all across the land FOR THE WRONG reason.

If proper dissemination was offered to the punter your horse would have started 7/2, this is why that formline is buggered now. I think ffc is better than the winner and because i read your comments i now dont care about the formline but many dont know better.

i have no idea who leon is i see he do interbet podcast. if he is assistant he will see the horse he train look exactly the same as what they look 60 year ago so i no now what he talk about about new training method. what i do say for me the big change come no from training it come from how horse is feed and how much chemical the vet put. this is from 30 years not 60. uncle roy howe he grind hes oats hemself, with the teff and the rest always fresh ingredient and before the race he put some time the milk stout for the coat so the horse look like the machine in parade ring. to day most just get the cubes. 30 year ago the vet is call when some thing is serious wrong with horse. to day plenty trainer you wonder who is train hem or the vet. a friend is have the horse at the vaal with some one he tell me the other day hes horse is nothing wrong but he pay almost the same to the vet kobi as he pay for the training fee.........so for me i not now what training method leon is using but it is these that have change the last 30 year no the horse.
