Thanks Dave - we appreciate it. We are non-profit and try to keep our fees as reasonable as possible, considering the economic climate, and at the same time the welfare of the horse which are like children to their owners. The horses live in 5 star situations and it's rewarding to see how how a rescue horse takes just a few months to flourish back to full health and happiness.

I really am more than happy to take people on a walk about to discuss what things can be renovated.

Neighmastet - maybe you can assist and get the ball rolling to the powers that be to see how disrespectful they have been to such a historical venue.
The stables Fleamarket side of things still has rows named after champions - Model Man, Wolf Power, Sledgehammer....
I want my children to know the history that is Newmarket. We're losing Clairwood, let's try save Newmarket.
And we are more than willing to have the yearling sales back here if it's feasible.

You can PM me or email sugahorse@gmail.com should you prefer other than replying to this thread. We'd really like to give sponsors as much publicity as possible, including in our monthly newsletter and banners at special events.

It's a case of the TBA coming to the party, and I can categorically say Newmarket will support the idea. It's a win win all round

We have been fighting for years to get a lease, and really believe we are now in a stron position to force their hand, as I believe all municipal owner properties must by law have a lease. The pressure needs to remain.
Being a heritage building, there is mot as much commercial value, as the property cannot be legally demolished or developed.

Unfortunately historical to the racing industry and the sport as a whole. Whites as well as blacks were a part of this.

We are transgressing - even though council may seem to have very little interest in preserving the property, we have plenty others that do care. And if the balance of the racing industry were aware of the state, they'd be appalled.

I am happy to engage with you on this matter , please email me on tom@tba.co.za.

We did go and look at this venue last year, the stables and outbuildings are in need of a serious upgrade and would have to get long term commitment from the Municipality before we consider investing in this venue.

We also have commitments with our sponsor Suncoast Casino to consider but I am open to a discussion on the matter.
