Come on The Queen....
One who could pop up at a monster price is Model Pupil, who finished a respectable third on his first attempt at a staying trip. He was much too keen that day, so should be better with the likelier quicker pace, and was staying on well at the end of the two miles that day, so could improve again for the extra half mile. His breeding has stamina all over it, and he also has class, having all but won the Chester Vase last year. He looks worth a small each way investment at 50/1 with Ladbrokes.
Next up is the Brittania Stakes, a 28 runner mile handicap for three-year-olds. It looks a very tough puzzle to solve, but Paddy Power have dangled a carrot by offering six places for each way bets, which makes it a must bet race.
Wentworth is the favourite, and could easily be unbeaten had he not suffered an impossible passage on his first and last runs. He is very short, at a top price of 9/2 with bet365, which probably owes more to his connections of Richard Hannon and Coolmore than his achievements on the track. He is undoubtedly classy, but looks too short here.
But for Wentworth, Cape Peron would likely be a strong favourite, and Henry Candy's colt looks worth an each way investment with Paddy Power's tremendous offer. He blitzed in last time out, looking a horse destined for greater things than handicaps. He looks worth a bet at 7/1 with Paddy Power.
Low drawn horses seemed favoured yesterday, and with most of the fancied runners drawn high, it makes sense to have one drawn low as well, and the best option there looks to be Maputo, who can be backed at 10/1 with Paddy Power. The Mark Johnston trained inmate is unbeaten this season, and from stall three, he could run extremely well.
The Group 3 Tercententary Stakes is next, which is a ten furlong contest, again limited to three-year-olds. The favourite is the John Gosden trained Remote, who bolted up in a handicap last time out. The horse he beat there, Baltic Knight, has since won a listed race against his elders, so the form looks extremely good. He is a general 3/1 chance.
However, it might be worth taking a chance of the form of the Dante Stakes at York, which has since had the form boosted by the first and second, Libertarian and Trading Leather. Indian Chief and Windhoek travelled extremely well in that contest, and both look worth a small bet at best prices of 6/1 and 14/1 respectively, both with bet365. Windhoek is a much bigger price and he appeals as the better value of the two, despite his worse finishing position in the Dante.
The last race is the King George V Stakes, a mile and a half handicap for three-year-olds. Heading the market is the Queen's Bold Sniper, who has a tough draw in 16 to overcome. He looks likely to improve for the step up in trip, but is always likely to be too short, due to connections.
A better option looks to be Andrew Balding's Soviet Rock, who comes here on the back of three straight wins. He has good 5lb claimer, Thomas Brown, on board, and could be a good each way investment at 12/1 with bet365.
