He has a decent future ahead, you have a really nice one on your hands. I look forward to his next run at Kenilworth, whenever it may be.

For me (and I may be completely wrong), I can't see why Tellina can turn it around with Wyllie Hall (and both are drawn poorly) on the Derby run, and there's not a lot between Tellina and Love Struck (stamina doubts along with Vercingetorix imo) on the Classic form; at least Cape Town Noir has won over 2000, so could still turn out to be the right one - will be interesting to see the final field, which I see is only due next Monday

On ratings, Cherry on the Top looks too good, but I'm not 100% convinced that she is that much better than the Cape fillies - also not sure if she's going to be 100% for this race , or if she will use this as a stepping stone towards the July - another interesting puzzle imo :S

Campanologist runs on WEDNESDAY .
when this horse eventually won its maiden( 5 seconds?in a row),the trainer said she is a feature race contender.
I backed her two runs after the maiden win...no show.
Clashes with Miss Diana.
S Comack has no mount here and he didnt take the ride.
Most of the top contenders in this race have bad draws.

A complete stranger mentioned this to me today at the tote about Tellina. They never had intentions of winning the Derby, firstly, because the R2M bonus could not be won, and secondly, to keep his MR down for the July. Whilst it may sound silly, there is merit in that way of thinking, in that, he should receive some weight from the higher merit rated 3 year old colts. I would like to think if Tellina ran in the first four in the DN2000, he would make the final field for the July. I think it's that time of year when trainers box clever and try and qualify their horse/s with the minimum penalty.

So do i think Tellina will win the DN2000, no, i think Yorker is the one from the Woodruff stable that has to win to enhance his chances of making the final field. Tellina at 20/1 for the July may represent good value.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

I would not lend my ears to a 'complete stranger'; why would they pay the nom fees and the acceptance fees for the Derby if they don't intend to win? Could have found another non-feature race if they just wanted to keep him on the boil and not push up his MR?

If Tellina had won the Derby it would have had a minimal impact on his MR unless he had won by a significant margin so your conspiracy theory doesn't make sense. Gr1s are few and far between and you don't enter to lose. The fact is he was drawn wide and caught very wide on the turn so had nothing left at he end having already covered a lot of extra ground.
The Daily News looks a replay of the Kra Guineas with possibly Yorker in the mix.
The Gauteng Guineas/ Classic/ Derby form does not look as good as the CT form and the two late improvers Vercingetorix and Yorker look better than the Triple Crown participants.

Thanks Flash, was not aware of that; still as PeterD says, I doubt if he would have been entered in a Gr 1 with no intention of winning
