Sorry to hear about Zatopek - never a nice thing to happen.
For those that are interested, Dis'llbetheday had a tie-back operation to fix a paralyzed chord yesterday morning - seems to have gone well and will hopefully be back at the stables Monday or Tuesday (tu)

We finally put our Jet Master/Fortwood gelding down on Wednesday after a year of rest
He had Wobbler Syndrome and showed tremendous improvement but was never able to be ridden again.
Thanks to Dr.Katzwinkel and all at Summerveld Equine Hospital who helped on the case.

Sorry Chip. Unfortunately part of owning animals is having to make the tough decisions when the times comes. Doesn't make it any easier though.
It may sound macabre, but I have been with all mine for the final journey. After everything they've given me, I feel that the least I can do is be there to make sure they feel calm and safe and that they make the transition quietly and comfortably.
Take comfort from the fact that he had a good innings, never knew what it was to have an empty stomach and that he went out well loved and cared for. That is the greatest gift of all.
