I remember that side. The opening bowler was Grobler (i think he has passed away) also Bosch who was quick. Anton Ferrira played for them as well and I forget the left arm spinner. He was pretty good as well.

Yes Grobler died in a car accident, was a decent full back for the blou bulle as well... Yogi Bear (Anton Ferrira) carried a spare tyre round his waste... Morris 6 foot 8'' tall thin guy with black hair... Then there was Lee Barnard, also could play rugby... Who was the wickey, had blond hair??... shit the name escapes me...:S

lol.... and we had some imports, Alvin Kallicharain (spell??) and Sylvester Clark... These okes were quite happy to come play here in the apartheid days, especially that they were banned from representing there country cause of the rebel tours.

i watched Clark in the nets. Shit he was quick. I would not want to have faced him at the WACA or at the Wanderers on a green mamba. He is also no longer with us.

yes,remember we play cricket there as well so I had the opportunity to see all these players and in those days we also had a TV. Colour I may add.

Newland,WP vs TVL New Years games, remember it was a tradition for these 2 teams to play over that time period... Shew, to be honest i didn't watch much of the cricket, either drinking or checking out the birds...
